Deciduous Fruit Trees

There is no better day in the garden than when walk into your yard and harvest fresh, organically grown fruit. With careful planning and diligent integrated pest control measures you can produce the same excellent quality of fruit you find at farmer's markets. Though it is impossible for us to cover every variety of fruit tree and berry bramble, the basics of deciduous fruit tree care are the same.

5 Steps to Take:

  1. The growing season begins with concentrated pruning once trees go dormant in late fall or winter.
  2. Manage overwintering pests with a thorough spray of horticultural oil labelled for use on dormant trees.
  3. Cultivate an area that is friendly to beneficial insects and pollinators.
    • Companion planting is an easy way to add annual/perennial flowers and other food sources for the "good bugs".
  4. Take proactive disease control measures with applications of fungicides and/or bactericides before disease symptoms show.
  5. Fertilize at the correct times for your given tree varieties with what they need.
