For those plants that love a lower soil pH, DTE Garden Sulfur should be your go-to amendment to achieve optimal nutrient bioavailability.
This finely ground elemental sulfur is ideal for acid-loving favorites like hydrangeas, blueberries, azaleas, and evergreens, and it's also a smart solution for gardeners dealing with alkaline or high-salinity soils in vegetable beds, landscapes, or containers.
By gradually lowering pH, DTE Garden Sulfur helps unlock nutrients that may otherwise be tied up in the soil, improving overall plant health and vigor.
OMRI and CDFA listed, this amendment meets organic gardening standards and supports long-term soil fertility when used as directed.
Apply in early spring or fall, and always test your soil to determine the right rate and frequency. Whether you're growing stunning blooms or sweet berries, Garden Sulfur helps create the conditions your plants need to thrive.

Apply Garden Sulfur in the spring and summer to lower soil pH. Most acid loving plants prefer a soil pH between 4.5 and 6.5.
Berries and Hydrangeas:
To prepare new gardens, apply 5-10 lbs per 50 square feet of planting area depending on soil pH desired. Incorporate into soil or cover with fresh soil, compost or mulch and water in well.
To feed established plants, apply 1 cup per plant in early spring, mix into soil surface or cover with fresh soil, compost or mulch and water in well. To encourage blue flowers on hydrangeas, soil pH must be 5.5 or lower. Test and apply seasonally as needed.
Vegetable Gardens & Flower Beds:
To prepare new gardens, apply 5 lbs per 50 square feet for each point of pH reduction required. Evenly distribute over soil surface by hand or spreader. Incorporate into the soil or cover with new soil, compost or mulch. For soil pH maintenance, test and apply seasonally as needed.
Trees, Shrubs and Vines:
For new plants or transplants, prepare planting hole and mix 1 cup with the backfill soil. Use amended soil to fill in around the new plant and water in well.
For established plants, apply 1 cup Garden Sulfur per 1 inch of trunk diameter evenly to soil outwards towards the drip line. Cover with fresh soil, compost or mulch and water in well. For soil pH maintenance, test and apply seasonally as needed.
