Thrips, whether they are Western Flower Thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis) or other flower thrips (F. tritici), can be a major crop destroyer. Many types of these small and slender insects feed directly on flower buds and leaves while others puncture and suck up the juicy contents of a plant. These behaviors can have serious consequences for fruits, vegetables and ornamentals. Consuming a plant's buds will keep it from producing fruit or cause it to produce malformed and underdeveloped fruit. This can have a devastating effect on fruit crops like pears, nectarines and apples. Leaf feeding has a powerful impact on crop yields in vegetables like onions and in many flowers. Scarring caused by the insects chewing can significantly reduce the market value of ornamentals. In addition to all this damage that they are capable of, thrips are also confirmed vectors of disastrous viruses like the Impatiens Necrotic Spot Virus (INSV) and the Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWW).
Your best defense against these ruinous insect pests is to start early before populations are established and become unmanageable. This includes keeping your yard or garden clear of green debris that they like to breed in and looking for evidence of egg laying on plants (they lay their eggs right inside plant stems). These pests live in large groups and can often be found under the leaves where it attaches to the stem. Traps and lures can be the first defense in your Integrated Pest Management Program.
This lure provides a controlled release of a powerful attractant for thrips. When placed in close proximity to a sticky trap, the irresistible lure brings the insects near enough for them to become fatally stuck. Many types of traps can be used with this lure; they can be yellow stick traps, blue sticky traps, blue and yellow traps or other forms of sticky traps. These lures can be used outside or inside greenhouses and other such growing facilities.

This Product Controls These Pests or Diseases: Thrips
- Remove the lure from foil packet and attach to or very near a yellow or blue sticky card to increase attraction of thrips to the card.
- Use at least 1 lure per tree and 2-4 lures for larger trees.
- Use at least 1 lure per 500 sq. ft. in greenhouses.
- For mass trapping, attach lures to multiple sticky cards, sticky ribbon or water traps.
- Replace lure every 3-4 weeks depending on temperature (they may last longer in cooler weather).
