An Italian heirloom, this variety of beet is named for a fishing village near Venice and was introduced to the United States before 1865. This plant is an early and long producer and will provide delectable greens as well as flesh which is exceptionally sweet. Beets will have a candy red exterior and particularly beautiful flesh with alternating red and white stripes, like a peppermint candy. Perfect for eating fresh, roasting and pickling. To retain markings, bake beets whole and slice just before serving.
