Vine Mealybug lures are used with Multigard AM traps to trap and monitor adult males. They bait these males using a pheromone attractant. When placed early in the season these traps help growers make population estimates and decide when control measures should be used. They can also help limit mating; however, more concentrated pheromones for mating disruption are usually needed.
Identification and early treatment is vital when controlling vine mealybugs since they often go unnoticed until crop damage is seen. By trapping mealybugs, growers can more easily identify and treat to avoid crop losses.
Use gloves or tweezers to remove lure from packaging and place on trap adhesive once traps are placed. Dispose of gloves after use.
Each lure remains effective for 4-6 weeks in normal conditions.
