When Dietrich Bauer at Dottenfelder Farm (a biodynamic farm) in Germany bred this carrot from heirloom seeds, he found a real gem. These smooth skinned, deep orange carrots are outrageously succulent and sweet. Their unique aromatic flavor has made this variety a favorite for juicing. In fact, they are often grown commercially and in home gardens just for their juice. Rodelika's strong yet sweet flavor may be excellent for juice, but this same flavor is actually enhanced by cooking. This plant yields abundant amounts of large (6-8") handsome carrots, so you will have plenty to savor whether you enjoy them raw, cooked or simply juiced.
