Mosquito Bits are little pieces of a highly effective biopesticide that works in standing water to kill mosquito larvae and in soil or growing media to kill fungus gnat larvae. When applied to water, it will release Bacillus thuringiensis sp israelensis (Bti), a naturally occurring bacterium that acts as a species-specific larvicide. As it dissipates in the water, the larvae that's present will feed on it and perish within 24 hours. After application Mosquito Bits will provide control that will last up to 14 days in water with low to moderate organic content.
These little bits of Bti can be applied nearly anywhere that standing water can be found, including but not limited to, unused swimming pools, flowerpots and saucers, bird baths, animal watering troughs, old automobile tires, ditches, ponds and rain barrels. It only takes a small amount of water for mosquito larvae to grow in, so it should be applied wherever there is stagnant water no matter how small an area that might be. Mosquito Bits may be applied to areas that contain aquatic life, fish, and plants and to areas used by or in contact with humans, animals, livestock, pets, birds, or wildlife. The one exception is that they cannot be applied to treated, finished drinking water receptacles or reservoirs where the water is intended for human consumption.
- Will kill mosquito species that transmit West Nile Virus, Malaria, Dengue Fever and Zika Virus.
- This product will only affect the targeted larvae and is harmless to other living creatures or plant life.

This Product Controls These Pests or Diseases: Mosquitoes and Fungus Gnats (Bradysia impatiens) Larvae
May be applied to areas that contain aquatic life, fish, and plants and to areas used by or in contact with humans, animals, livestock, pets, birds, or wildlife.
Apply uniformly.
FOR USE AROUND THE HOUSE:
- For smaller areas of standing water, evenly sprinkle 1 teaspoon per 25 square feet of water or 1 tablespoon per 75 square feet of water.
- For larger areas of standing water, use 4 ounces per 1,000 square feet of relatively clean water and 8 ounces per 1,000 square feet of water that is deep, has more organic matter, is polluted, or has larger mosquito larvae present.
- Apply every 7 days at the high rate when there are abundant mosquito larvae and when the water has suspended or settled organic matter content.
- Apply every 14 days at the lower rate when there are few mosquito larvae and little organic matter in the water.
FUNGUS GNAT LARVAE CONTROL:
For use in growing media or soil of house, garden, landscape plants and home mushroom beds.
- Mix 4 tablespoons per 1 gallon of water.
- Let mixture sit for 30 minutes and skim off the floating granules. For easier cleanup, granules may be placed in a nylon stocking prior to immersion in water.
- Stir or shake the water then apply treated water directly to soil or growing media surface.
- Compost or discard used granules.
- This treatment controls fungus gnat larvae present in the soil at the time of application.
- Repeat weekly for three weeks.
- Repeat treatment if fungus gnats reappear.
AQUAPONICS & HYDROPONICS:
At times, both aquaponics and hydroponics result in conditions that are favorable to mosquito larval growth. Because of the nutrients present in water used for both, use the high application rate and frequency of use for mosquito larvae control described in the "FOR USE AROUND THE HOUSEHOLD" section above.
Storage: Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage and/or disposal. Keep in original container. Store away from direct sunlight, feed or foodstuffs in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly sealed when not in use.

Owner Response: Hi Emily,
Using a spoon to disperse them can be helpful. Regarding the mold, it is probably mycelium from beneficial fungus in the soil if it is in potted plants. That means you have good soil! :)
Wonderful Product
