The Cinderella pumpkin had been popular in its native France for many years before it was introduced to North America by Burpee in 1883. This pumpkin, with its pronounced lobes and somewhat flattened top, is easily recognizable as the model for Cinderella's coach. The supremely productive vines can grow up to 10' and will bear vibrant orange fruit about 15" across that can weigh from 10-30 pounds. The sweet orange flesh has a thick and creamy texture. It is perfection when baked in breads and pies but also makes an extraordinary pumpkin ice cream.
