These non-toxic crystals are made up of an ultra-concentrated crosslinked polymer material that is capable of absorbing hundreds of times its weight in water. WaterWorks Crystals absorb and hold water (like little sponges) until the natural capillary action of the plant moves the water from the root zone, where the crystals lie, to the rest of the plant's body. In this manner, the plant is able to access the water on demand. When the crystals can absorb no more, they will slowly shed the excess into the ground. Application of these crystals need only be done once, as they will last for years (5-10 depending on soil conditions). They will dehydrate and re-swell over that period as conditions merit. WaterWorks Crystals can be used with any plant food, fertilizer or soil mix (but not with hydroponics), so you can continue to tend to your plants as you normally would, but water much less (between 50-75% less).
WaterWorks Crystals also act as a soil conditioner. As they expand (up to 100 times their dry size) and contract, they will open passageways in the soil while keeping the roots moist, not wet. This allows for improved soil porosity, easier nutrient/fertilizer flow to the plant and robust root growth. You will see the results in vigorous growth, high quality fruits and flowers and higher yields overall.
