Fungus gnat larvae can quickly become a big problem for many greenhouse and nursery growers. While the adults are easy to notice, the larvae are difficult to control. If ignored, these fungus gnat larvae can damage tender roots, stress young plants, and keep the infestation cycling through your growing areas.
Gnatrol® WDG Biological Larvicide helps break that cycle by targeting fungus gnat larvae where they live and feed. This professional, water-dispersible granule formulation contains a commercial strain of Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis, a biological larvicide that works after larvae ingest the treated material. Once larvae consume the Bti, they stop feeding immediately and die within 24 hours. That helps protect vulnerable roots, reduce larval pressure, and support a cleaner, more consistent growing environment.
Gnatrol WDG can be applied as a soil drench, drip application, or through approved chemigation systems. The water-dispersible granule formulation makes it easy to measure, mix, and apply accurately, making it a strong fit for commercial growers who need repeatable, production-scale control. For growers looking for a targeted, organic-compatible larvicide, Gnatrol WDG provides a practical way to manage fungus gnat larvae before they develop into the next generation of adults.
This Product Controls These Pests or Diseases: Fungus gnat larvae
USE INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Gnatrol WDG with adequate water as a soil drench to sufficiently wet the soil surface where fungus gnat larvae are present. Treat areas above and under benches, as areas under benches can be primary fungus gnat breeding sites and may require higher labeled rates. For best results, apply drenches toward the end of the irrigation period.
APPLICATION RATES:
- Light infestation: 3.2 to 6.4 oz per 100 gallons of water, applied as a soil drench.
- Heavy infestation: 13 to 26 oz per 100 gallons of water, applied as a soil drench. These rates are listed for ornamental and nursery plantings in greenhouse or potting soil mixtures and for labeled vegetable plants including tomatoes, leafy and cole crops, cucumbers, peppers, and eggplants.
APPLICATION TIMING: Apply when fungus gnat larvae are present in the soil or growing media. Gnatrol WDG is a larvicide and will not control adult gnats. For existing infestations where eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults are present, make three weekly applications at the suggested heavy infestation rate range. Follow-up applications using the light infestation rate range can help establish a longer-term maintenance program.
