PyGanic Specialty is an updated version of the extremely popular PyGanic 5.0. With this organically-compliant broad spectrum insecticide you will be able to protect nearly everything you grow or raise from destructive and disease carrying insect pests. This includes the commercial production of livestock, poultry and crops. These commercial enterprises require more frequent and higher volume application rates than smaller scale producers and this concentrated version is easily adapted to these specific needs. OMRI listed PyGanic Specialty is not harmful and can be used directly on your animals or fowl and in their habitats. It can also be used in commercial animal premises automatic misting systems. If you are looking for insect control in your greenhouse, nursery or garden, PyGanic Specialty is the ideal choice for almost every grower. It can be used on over 40 different categories of plants; the specific plants in these categories number in the 100's. The more than 100 listed pests it controls covers the most common commercial and home garden pests. For a complete list of what you can use PyGanic Specialty on and which pests it controls, please refer to the manufacturer's label under the MSDS tab.
The active ingredient, Pyrethrins (a botanical insecticide made from the Chrysanthemum flower), provides a quick knockdown and kill. It is recommended that you apply this product early in the morning or late in the evening for two reasons:
- Pyrethrins can degrade in direct sunlight so you want to give them a chance to work before the sun becomes intense.
- This product is highly toxic to honeybees and they are not active at these times.
PyGanic Specialty works best if it is applied when pests first appear, before there is a heavy infestation. Thorough coverage is also key; direct contact needs to be made with the pest insects. You can use this OMRI listed, NOP compliant insecticide at any point throughout your growing season and up to the day of harvest.
Suggested Uses: For use to rapidly knockdown and kill over 100 listed pests that affect your plants, livestock and poultry, This includes aphids, beetles, ticks, caterpillars, crickets, fruit and stable flies, mites, thrips and many more. Please see manufacturer's label under the MSDS tab for the complete list of insects.

Refer to the Product Label for specific application instructions, maximum application rates, pests controlled and additional information.
Spraying should begin when the insects first appear. Do not wait until the plants are heavily infested. Kills only at the time of application. Listed insect pests must be directly contacted to be effective. Use spray equipment that will provide the best coverage and direct contact with as many insects as possible.
PyGanic Specialty Application Rates |
Greenhouse/Nursery Crops | Apply 4.5-17 fl. oz. per acre by ground equipment in sufficient water for thorough coverage. This product may be applied by air at the rate of 4.5-17 per acre in a minimum of 2 gallons of water per acre for field crops and in a minimum of 10 gallons of water per acre for orchard crops. Repeat as needed but not more than once daily. |
Greenhouse, Ornamental, Foliage Plants | For application with conventional sprayers - Combine 16-32 fl. oz. with 100 gallons of water. For application with handheld or backpack sprayers – Combine ¼-½ fl. oz. per gallon of water. Apply the diluted product at the rate of 3 gallons per 1,000 sq. ft. Do not use more than once per day. |
Vegetable & Truck Gardens | For commercial production of listed crops to kill listed insects, dilute ¼-½ fluid ounces per gallon of water. Apply diluted solution with all types of agricultural sprayers, including compressed air sprayers or pump driven sprayers. |
Livestock Sprays |
To Kill Horse Flies, House Flies, Mosquitos & Gnats: Dilute at the rate of 1.5-3 fl. oz. per gallons of water and apply. |
To Kill Stable Flies, Horse Flies & Deer Flies: Dilute at the rate of 2.5-4 fl. oz. per gallon of water and apply a quart per adult animal. |
To Kill Face Flies: Dilute at the rate of 2.5 fl. oz. per gallon of water and apply using a spray which produces large wetting droplets. Apply to the face of the animal in the morning before releasing to pasture. Apply sufficiently to wet the face but not more than 1.5 fl. oz. of diluted solution per animal. |
To Kill Biting and Sucking Lice on Cattle, Horses, Sheep, Goats and Hogs: Dilute at the rate of 1 quart with 60 gallons of water (1.5 fl. oz. with 2 gallons). |
To Kill Sheep Tick or Ked: Dilute at the rate of 1.5-3 fl. oz. per 4 gallons of water. |
To Kill Fleas and Ticks on Livestock and To Obtain Protection Against Reinfestation: Dilute at the rate of 9 fl. oz. per gallon of water. |
Poultry Sprays | See Product Label. |
It is recommended that the final spray mix be buffered to a pH of 5.5-7.0. Outside of this range pyrethrins can degrade and the product will lose effectiveness. To avoid possible harm to honey bees and other beneficial insects, it is advisable to apply when the non-target insects are least active. Pyrethrins degrade rapidly in sunlight. To ensure the best performance, coverage is key. Use spray equipment that will provide the best coverage and direct contact with as many insects as possible. Kills only at time of application. Listed insect pests must be directly contacted to be effective.
Storage: Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage or disposal. Keep this product in its tightly closed original container and out of direct sunlight when not in use. Store in a cool, dry (preferably locked) area that is inaccessible to children and animals.
Warning & Toxicities:
Harmful if swallowed or absorbed through skin. Causes moderate eye irritation. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Prolonged or frequently repeated skin contact may cause allergic reactions in some individuals. Wear long-sleeved shirt and long pants, socks, shoes and chemical-resistant gloves. If pesticide gets inside clothing, remove immediately and wash thoroughly. As soon as possible after using this product, wash thoroughly and change into clean clothing.
Pesticide Resistance Management:
PyGanic Specialty contains a Group 3A insecticide. Insect biotypes with acquired resistance to Group 3a may eventually dominate the insect population if Group 3A insecticides are used repeatedly in the same field or in successive years as the primary method of control for targeted species. This may result in partial or total loss of control of those species by PyGanic Specialty or other Group 3A insecticides. To delay insecticide resistance consider:
- Avoiding the consecutive use of PyGanic Specialty or other Group 3A insecticides that have a similar target site of action, on the same insect species.
- Using tank mixtures or premixes with insecticides from a different target site of action Group as long as the involved products are all registered for the same use and have differing sites of action.
- Basing insecticide use on a comprehensive IPM program.
- Monitoring treated insect population for loss of field efficacy.
- Contacting your local extension specialist, certified crop advisors, and/or manufacturer for insecticide resistance management and/or IPM recommendations for the specific site and resistance pest problems.
Environmental Hazards:
- This product is toxic to aquatic organisms, including fish and invertebrates. Drift and runoff may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in water adjacent to treated areas.
- This product may contaminate water through runoff. This product has a potential for runoff for several weeks after application. Poorly draining soils and soils with shallow water tables are more prone to produce runoff that contains this product.
- This product is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment on blooming crops or weeds. Do not apply this product or allow it to drift to blooming crops or weeds while bees are actively visiting in the treatment area.
- Do not apply directly to water, to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark.
- Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment washwaters.
