Crickets in the house are usually more annoying than damaging, unless they gather in large numbers. If that happens they can do quite a bit of damage as they will eat nearly anything, including paper, linens, clothing and foodstuffs. Your best bet to avoid such an insect rampage is to monitor them from the sound of that first chirp. Crickets enter buildings looking for a warm, moist place to set up house. For this reason, place traps in areas with high humidity, along baseboards, near entryways and windows and under appliances and furniture.

While one cricket may not signal an infestation, if you continue to see crickets in your traps you should take steps to address the situation beyond the use of traps. Evaluating how they are entering the house and eliminating outdoor harborages such as heavy vegetation, tall grass and firewood is a good start. Sprays such as EcoPCO products and Essentria IC-3 are other excellent tools for your arsenal.
