The state bird of Arizona, this is the largest wren in North America and is found throughout the Southwest. Although common in urban areas, it also has the wherewithal to survive in the wilderness where there's no freestanding water. This tough land calls for tough measures and these birds are just that. They will destroy the nests of other birds and gang up and attack predators that approach their nesting areas.
