BotaniGard 22WP controls multiple life stages of a wide variety of soft-bodied insects in greenhouse, field and nursery crops. Commonly controlled insects include whiteflies, thrips, aphids, psyllids, mealybugs, beetles, plant bugs and weevils. BotaniGard 22WP has the highest spore count of any Beauveria-containing insecticide. In addition, its wettable powder formulation allows for easy application and it can be used throughout the growing cycle to control low and high infestation levels.
BotaniGard 22WP is registered for use on an extensive number of ornamentals, herbs and spices, vegetables, fruits and berries. There is no limit to the number of times that BotaniGard 22WP can be applied in a season. Weekly application programs can prevent insect population explosions and provide a level of control equal to or better than conventional chemical programs. It has a 4-hour REI and can be used up until the day of harvest (0-day PHI).
Application Considerations:
Early scouting and detection with traps and monitoring measures is imperative for success when using biocontrol products. Apply BotaniGard 22WP at first sign of pests when insect numbers are low for most effective control. This is important for aphid control as their rapid molting cycle in adults can decrease B. bassiana's effectiveness. Use a program of BotaniGard 22WP applied at 7-day intervals to keep your crop clean and prevent target insect population explosions. Reduce the application interval to 3-5 days if insects get out of hand, making at least 3 applications. Compatible knockdown sprays can be used to reduce heavy infestations prior to and after applying BotaniGard 22WP. More information about application rates and instructions can be found in the Instructions Tab.

Application Rates for Common Pests:
- Whitefly and Aphids - ½ to 1 pound of BotaniGard 22WP per 100 gallons water.
- Thrips - 1 to 2 pounds of BotaniGard 22WP per 100 gallons gallons water.
- Other labeled insects - ½ to 2 pounds of BotaniGard 22WP per 100 gallons water.
- Rate depends upon infestation level, consult package instructions before application.
- Use the Small Volume Rate Table for precise mix rates recommended for small- to medium-scale applications.
BotaniGard 22WP Application Rates |
High Spray Volumes | Apply BotaniGard 22WP up to a maximum of 3 pounds per 100 gallons spray volume for high insect populations or dense foliage.
Use quantity of spray sufficient to thoroughly cover foliage infested with insects. Crop size, spray equipment and local practice will determine the volume of water needed. One hundred gallons of spray volume will typically cover 5,000-20,000 square feet. Spray To Glisten, But Avoid Runoff. |
Low Volume Sprays | Apply at a rate equivalent to area coverage of high volume spray. This would normally be ½ pound to 2 pounds of BotaniGard 22WP for 5,000 to 20,000 square feet. Follow spray equipment manufacturer's instructions for final spray volume to obtain adequate coverage. Spray To Glisten, But Avoid Runoff. Do Not Apply Through A Thermal Pulse Fogger. |
Cuttings Dip | Applications of BotaniGard 22WP may be used as pre-plant dips for cuttings as noted below. To prepare dip solution, thoroughly mix ¼ - ½ oz. BotaniGard 22WP per gallon of water (2 ½ -5 oz. BotaniGard 22WP per 10 gallons water). Prepare only as much dip solution as can be used in one day. Do not use dip solution for more than one day. Spores in water for more than 24 hours will die. Dip a small number of plants in dip solution and observe for plant damage before using dip treatment. Do not use dips if there is any visible damage to test plants. |
Uprooted Cuttings: Dip the unrooted cuttings in the BotaniGard 22WP solution just long enough to wet all surfaces, then removing to a flat area. For water-sensitive varieties, cover to protect until dry. Then proceed with normal planting and misting. |
Rooted Cuttings: Holding by the roots, briefly dip in the BotaniGard 22WP solution just long enough to wet all surfaces, including leaves and stems. Once removed from the dip solution, cuttings can be potted, but allow plants to dry before watering. |
Turf & Soil Applications | For most soil applications, apply 1-4 oz. (up to ¼ lb.) BotaniGard 22WP per 1,000 square feet. For difficult to control soil pests, especially citrus root weevil (Diaprepes abbreviates), BotaniGard 22WP can be applied at 4 oz. per 1,000 square feet. Do not apply to water-saturated soil. Apply BotaniGard 22WP in enough water to ensure good coverage of treated area, at least one gallon per 1,000 square feet. Irrigate treated area after application to disperse BotaniGard 22WP into soil. |
