Description

Need a general predator & can't get ladybugs? Try out Green Lacewing Eggs or Assassin Bugs today!

A Great Introduction To Beneficial Insects For Gardeners & Farmers!

Ladybugs are one of the best known beneficial insects for controlling pests in gardens, greenhouses and farms. A widely used, cost effective alternative to other treatments, ladybugs are easy-to-release and have a great reputation as generalist predators. Collected and prepared for shipment, live ladybugs are best used when pest numbers are low, but can be used to fight existing infestations. Simply release them in areas of pest activity and allow them to do the work. Avoid spraying pesticides or fungicides while ladybugs are active for best control.

Target Prey: Ladybugs primarily feed on aphids, but will prey on a variety of other pests including mealybugs, thrips, soft scale, whiteflies and spider mites.

Benefits of Ladybugs:

  • Shipped to you in the adult stage ready to feed.
  • Highly mobile allowing them to travel from plant to plant.
  • Generalist predators that feed on most soft-bodied pest insects.
  • Each adult can consume up to 5,000 aphids in a lifetime.
  • The larvae eat 50-60 aphids per day.
Optimum Temperatures: 62°-88°F

Tip: Help keep ladybugs around and attract native species by planting perennial and annual flowering plants (Good Bug Power Blend) and by avoiding chemical sprays whenever possible. Cultivating an area with plenty of shaded areas or plants with dense canopies can help provide alternative habitat when conditions are not ideal for ladybugs. While these methods may not keep all the ladybugs on site, they should help keep them around for as long as possible. If you have had issues with ladybug flight, consider using Assassin Bugs or Green Lacewing instead.

Ladybugs
Jan 31, 2021  |  By Jerry Seibert

Got rid of spider mites
Oct 4, 2020  |  By Dana
After failed attempts of using neem oil and other natural insecticides to remove spider mites, I purchased 500 ladybugs. They came in the package alive and well, but looked scary - almost like small beetles. After a couple days they started to look like ladybugs and began munching on all those pesky spider mites. After their meal, they flew away and my monstera is thriving more than ever.

Excellent!

Exactly what I needed! They are amazingly effective and beautiful. Thank you for the quick shipping and offering them in general. I can not find them anywhere around town. I am so grateful.

Lady bugs in a greenhouse for aphid control
Sep 2, 2020  |  By John
Ladies showed up ready to eat with almost no dead. Was definitely more than 9000 though I did not count each one. A few weeks later I have eggs, larvae and pupa within the grow. In order to ensure aphid control Is release before you even see aphids and feed the ladies bugs power meal.

Don't Order when it's too HOT
Sep 2, 2020  |  By MK
We were in need of a bunch of ladybugs and couldn't find them in our area so we made this order. We ordered 9,000 and paid for overnight shipping. We expected for some loss but by the time we received the package it was extremely hot in the tiny little box. We opened it up and at least half were dead. I should of taken a photo but didn't in the moment. I contacted Arbico and they wanted a picture. So if ordering make sure it's not in a heat wave and if you have a large loss TAKE A PIC! I think if they were in a larger box and better packaged more would of survived.
Owner Response: Hi MK, Temperatures are always good to keep in mind for any predatory insect, but ladybugs especially are vulnerable to high heat. Optimum Temperatures: 62-88 F.

Hungry Bugs
Aug 10, 2020  |  By Kani Flansburg
We released the ladybugs in the greenhouse to help manage the explosion of bad bugs. We were overrun with all different types of aphids, as well as other sucking, munching, horrible bugs. Well, the ladybugs were hungry and have really made a big dent in the aphid population. We have "babies" coming on and they are even more voracious than their folks. I am very, very happy with these ladybugs. I've bought from other vendors, and they arrived dead. These were very much alive.

Birthday Party
Aug 10, 2020  |  By Leilani Purvine

Aphids Gone!!
Aug 6, 2020  |  By Dr Judy Kennedy
I had new crepe myrtles in the courtyard of my new house that were covered with aphids. It was easy to order the ladybugs and the ladybug army arrived alive and ready to go. They went right to work. Within a few days the aphids were gone. Every morning I had a few ladybugs greet me as I sat on my outdoor couch. Very nice!! No chemicals. What I learned: After the ladybug treatment, hose down the crepe myrtles every morning. Its been a few weeks now and the crepe myrtles are beautiful. I only hose down if needed.

Worked for my squash bug problem
Aug 5, 2020  |  By Marie McDonald
Purchased 9000 ladybugs to help control the squash bugs that destroyed our pumpkins last year. Between the ladybugs and the green lacewings we are free of pests in the pumpkins. They arrived vibrant in a knotted cloth bag. Easy and fun to release. I don't know if they helped with our plant hopper problem this year but that issue seemed to also be managable.

Lovely
Jul 28, 2020  |  By Anne Marie DeVries
These little miracle workers go at it right away. They need water as soon as they are released so we made sure to water the plants right before. We've had a huge problem with aphids the last few years and when we checked on our ladybugs an hour after release they were on every plant devouring the little trouble makers. Love watching the ladybugs help us with pest control! Our package of ladybugs came within two days and were brought right to our door. Great service, thanks, Arbico!!

Lady Bugs
Jul 26, 2020  |  By CLAUDIA M BROWN
I received my order in good shape and it appeared that most if not all of the bugs were alive and well. I put them out for aphid control in my pecan trees and so far we have not experienced any honeydew dripping on our vehicles. I love my lady bugs. I also put some in my garden and it does not seem that I am having the usual pests there either.

Arrived quickly & all survived the shipping. Took care of a spider mite issue I had on one on my plants. They were delightful. Dont think they stuck around though. Thinking it .ay have been a little hot for them in the summer in Florida. But they did the job I needed them for.

The ladybugs were ready to go as soon as I opened them. I received them late due to Federal Express taking them to the wrong address. I was not able to follow the directions precisely because I wanted them released. But that is not Arbicos fault.

i love the ladybugs
Jul 20, 2020  |  By Ardele Lister
they ate the aphids on my tomato plants, on my dahlias and they've just re-greened these plants on my roof. i love to find them busily inhabiting my plants. not sure what else ailed my plants but they took care of it! thank you arbico organics

Lady Bugs Arrived Happy
Jul 15, 2020  |  By william parsons
The Lady Bugs arrived happy and ready to help deal with garden pests. They were a bit sleepy in their refrigerated bag, but quickly we put some to work in their new home. The rest lived in the Frig for a few days as we nightly added more to the garden. They seemed to love Alabama and we love them.

Aphids on River Birch
Jul 7, 2020  |  By Joe Hale
We noticed curly leave on the birches and upon inspection they were covered with aphids. The household in general avoids pesticide use; recommendations to rid the birch trees included sprays and systemic drenches with chemicals that I had never used. Saw the ladybugs and figured I had nothing to lose. They were in the delivery truck all day and I was worried about them but they were all alive (I ordered two starter kits). I released them nearly immediately (okay, I didn't read the directions that said to release a tablespoon or so every once in a while). Now two weeks later the aphids are under control and there are still lady bugs around. Success!

Healthy & Happy Ladybugs
Jun 28, 2020  |  By Maumi Yoshioka
First time ordering from Abrico. Very happy that I did. All of the ladybugs were alive, healthy and alive. There were a lot of care behind the packaging of these live insect delivery. Upon arrival via 2 day delivery, kept it in the cool place in our home. Then at early evening followed the instructions given for release of the ladybugs. Didn't know how much of the ladybugs would stay in our backyard garden. We have aphids problems due to having milkweed garden, growing various vegetables and flowers. The following day after the release, it was a slightly gloomy weather and I checked to see if any ladybugs stayed around. Was I surprised to see 100's of ladybugs made themselves comfortable in one particular section of the garden snacking on aphids. They were acting if they were in a ladybug paradise. Then I found even more of the same at another section of the garden. No doubt the rest of our garden probably was the same. Saw sprinkling of ladybugs on various other plants in the garden. Very happy with my purchase with Abrico.

First-Time Ladybug Purchase
Apr 1, 2020  |  By Jeffrey Pearson
I really liked the ladybugs you sent me. They were very lively. I put them in my 10 X 16 ft. Greenhouse and they went to work eating aphids. Most of them disappeared within a two days even though the ventilation fan was not turned on. I hope a handful will remain on duty and I saw the remaining ones were mating. What conditions do I need for the eggs to be viable?

Mar 10, 2020  |  By Jennifer Rowe-Mitchell
I bought two bags of ladybugs ...... the first lot released into a warm conservatory of plants but did not last too long even though I followed careful directions re water access and slow release. I cautiously ordered a second bag of bugs after doing more research into ways to take care of them (food, shelter etc). The second group is thriving well and eating up the aphids!

Price and quality definitely an A+! This shipment of lady bugs was probably a bit more mature maybe due to the time of year not sure, most of them already had wings, but still got right to work eating the spider mites that had been eating my plants. My second purchase and still satisfied!

Best Natural Warfare on Pests
Jul 26, 2019  |  By Sarah
I hate sprays and had an aphid infestation of my greenhouse hot peppers. The habaneros did not like the soapy water, so I went with ladybugs! I followed the directions and released in two waves. I kept leaves sprayed and closed up the greenhouse and the ladybugs did exactly what I hoped! No more aphids!! I didn't find any dead ladybugs in the bag too which was surprising. They were healthy and hungry. I've already recommended this method and company to friends!

Effective, but lots of dead ladybugs
Jul 8, 2019  |  By melissa
We ordered these a month or two ago, and they all arrived alive, but this time nearly half of them were dead upon arrival from UPS. The delivery driver handed them directly to me so they did not sit in the heat. The bugs are super effective in our hoop houses in controlling aphid populations, but we were a bit disappointed with the quality this time around.
Owner Response: Hi Melissa, Thank you for the input. We do everything we can to make sure they arrive alive, but the summer months are not kind to bugs in transit. If you every have viability issues on arrival, please call us at 1-800-827-2847 and we can work to get a reshipment sent out or refund in process.

Outstanding Service
Jun 28, 2019  |  By Steve
I have ordered several times from Arbico and the service and product has always been top quality. I recently ordered ladybugs which did not make it through transit, the issue was definitely with the carrier. the box was clearly mark live lady bugs handle with care, but the delivery guy handed me a crushed box from the bottom of his deliveries needless to say they never made it. however as soo as Arbico found out they instantly called me and offered me a replacement. now that's what you call great service. I would tottaly recommend this company and there products to anyone.....GREAT SERVICE

One Quart for an acre of land
May 18, 2019  |  By Teresa Mitzel
After years of trugreen service, I am opting for a healthier alternative. On the recommendation of a friend, purchased a quart of ladybugs. They arrived in a box and bag. Watched a few youtube videos, wet plants and released at dusk as recommended. The ladybugs need a drink after traveling in USPS as well as they don't fly off when released at dusk. Worked like a charm, those little buggers are ferocious eaters. They mated and several weeks after ordering, i'm seeing them around. We had aphids on 57crepe mrytles, fig and lemon bushes. All look healthy now. I also purchased the yellow lady bug house in hopes to keep them happy. I will order again in a few months to keep a good supply on my acre of land around my home.

Ladybugs did the job
Apr 13, 2019  |  By A F
I had a big aphid problem on Knockout roses that had been cut back and were putting on tender new growth. There were sawfly larvae too. The ladybugs arrived in good shape. I followed the instructions and only release a certain number every couple of days, keeping in the fridge in between. After a couple of weeks I can find no aphids or sawfly larvae on my beautifully blooming roses. The ladybugs left in the package lived three weeks kept mostly in fridge. I shared them with a neighbor because there were so many, even with the starter pkg. I highly recommend!
Owner Response: That's an interesting way of using them! Thanks for the feedback. Glad they did the job!

Arbico is the only place I'll go for ladybugs! The mortality rate averages about 5 lady bugs per shipment, and I usually purchase 9000! The are great for the Buffalo, NY climate. The ladybugs decimate the leafhopper, spider mite and aphid populations in my extensive garden (trees, flowering plants, fruits & vegetables.) They store well in the refrigerator, so you can release them in groups. This was a great science lesson for our school also! Oh, yes -- customer care is outstanding.

Lady Bugs
May 2, 2018  |  By M
Unfortunately they did not fulfill my order. I paid for lady bugs and then received a call later advising they had to cancel my order. They had no other suggestions for what else I could use in place of lady bugs for pest control. Not a great experience for a new customer.
Owner Response: We apologize for the inconvenience and less than satisfactory customer service experience. The ladybug stock can be extremely variable heading into the summer months due to the heat and ongoing drought in some of the collection sites. Green lacewings are a suitable alternative to the ladybugs for general pest control. If you are battling a specific pest, there may also be a species specific predator or parasite that can be introduced for ongoing control.

Ladybugs Arrived In Excellent Condition!
Mar 30, 2018  |  By David Sondergeld
The price for ladybugs was slightly higher then I have previously paid from other vendors on line. However, I have never been disappointed with Arbico before so since it was not a major difference, I thought I would just add it to my other order with Arbico. To my surprise, nearly every single ladybug arrived alive and healthy looking! I released them at dusk and when I went into the greenhouse to discard their excess packing material in the morning, I could count on one hand the number of dead ladybugs from two orders. The other places I ordered from usually had tons of ladybugs dead on arrival and there would be a mound of dead bugs that did not survive the transport. So I guess in reality Arbico was cheaper in the long run because they were all healthy enough to make it thru the shipping and stress of transport....
Owner Response: Glad to hear they made it to you in good health! Hopefully they arrived nice and hungry too!

Fun with ladybugs
May 16, 2015  |  By B Phongsavane
We were so excited to see our ladybugs. My mom, my daughter and I released them in my mothers garden and we had so much fun acting like 3 little school girls. We have not seen many ladybugs in our area and are lucky if we see one a year, so this was such a pleasant experience for us. Thank you for such great service, all of the ladybugs arrived on time and neatly packaged, and we had a great time releasing them in our garden. We checked on them and they seem to be happy in their new home. :)
