Citric acid can be used to:
- Neutralize or acidify water.
- Lower the pH of soil less media.
- Improve micro-nutrient uptake from the soil.
- Increase the efficacy of herbicides and insecticides.
Our food grade citric acid can be used in many processes, including cheese-making, brewing beer, and making wine or soda.
For use as a buffer with herbicides and pesticides:
Citric Acid can be used as a buffer to adjust the pH of water when applying herbicides and pesticides like Pyganic EC that are sensitive to the alkalinity of water. If the water in your area is too alkaline (above pH 7), it may make the pesticide react before it is sprayed, cutting its effectiveness by half or even making it completely ineffective!
To reduce Soil pH: 16 lbs. of citric acid dissolved in 4 gallons of water will make enough 50% solution to treat approximately 500 sq. ft. and will lower the pH by approximately 1 point. This solution is best applied through drip irrigation systems.
