Method of shipment, biology: Ladybugs are shipped to you in the adult stage. Each adult consumes about 5,000 aphids. Within 8 to 10 days of release, each female ladybug lays 10-50 eggs daily on the underside of leaves. In 2-5 days the larvae emerge as dark alligator-like flightless creatures with orange spots. The larvae eat 50-60 aphids per day.
After 21 days they pupate and adults emerge in 2-5 days, completing the cycle. Under ideal conditions (temperature 61-82° F; ladybugs won’t fly when 55° F or lower) several generations may be produced. If not released immediately, you may store ladybugs for 1-3 weeks at 35-45° F. Number of ladybugs per shipment is approximate.
NOTE: Because ladybugs are collected in the wild, availability is subject to Nature's whim. Extra ladybugs are shipped with each order to account for mortality. Prices subject to change based on availability. |

A Wonderful Friend
- By R.K-W on Jul 20, 2010
This is not the first time I have ordered Hippodamia convergens from Arbico. But this is the first time at my new home. I decided to plant a garden and halfway through the summer discovered all sorts of creepy crawlies causing a great deal of malcontent to my vegies. I once again turned to the beautiful, friendly, and ferocious "Ladybug". I have seen her attack thrips, red spider mites, and aphids with such tenacity that the "Lady" in her name must surely be a misnomer! I spaced my releases of the ladybug horde out over a 2.5 week period and I am pleased to say that many have stayed in my garden and surrounding flower beds. I would suggest to anyone ordering to stick to the size you need and avoid "ordering up". These little warriors will not linger long if you have no quarry for them to battle. Do not be surprised if you look out in your garden and discover that many have flown the coop due to lack of prey. The ones who stick around will establish themselves and create the balance we all seek.
Sincerely,
Squash Borer Hater
Ladybugs

I purchased the ladies over a month ago and they are still strong and multiplying. These are the most tenacious bugs I have ever had the pleasure to purchase. I am a regular customer and will continue to be loyal to your professional, service oriented company.

Kudos to Arbico for getting them here in such a short period of time.

- By Lynn N. on Jan 13, 2011
Arrived in fine shape and doing their job in my greenhouse.
Another Winner from Arbico!
- By Tom K on Jan 19, 2011
I ordered the Hippodamia convergens in response to a nasty outbreak of aphids in my greenhouse. With the outside temperature hovering around 10 degrees F, the Ladybugs arrived 100% alive and hungry within 48 hours of my order on the Arbico website.
Within 48 hours of the bug's release I saw a definite decline in aphid population to well below the threshold of any economic damage.
Thanks Arbico!

New Years Eve
- By Bob on Jan 22, 2011
My girlfriend and I celebrated New Years Eve by letting go Ladybugs in the the church garden. What a great way to end the year with a gift that will keep on giving. Thanks Arbico for the super fast delivery. We plan on a repeat this spring.
An army of lady bugs
- By T. B. on Jan 20, 2011
Compared to some other sources for the same price I'm getting more than double the amount of ladybugs which is great to start! I purchased the beetles to deal with a mite infestation in an indoor room. The room was in the 70s, a few beetles searched the plants, but most found places to hide for the winter I guess. In the end I had to buy predatory mites to deal with the mite infestation.
Interesting note sprinkling 1000's of predator mites around the area really stimulated the beetles and I think it might have made them start searching for mites as food, don't know for certain, I need to get a 30x microscope to get the best view of whats really going on.
I will likely be getting more for the summer time for my yard where aphids and scales are abundant!
Ladybugs galore
- By K.R. on Mar 21, 2011
The ladybugs came right on time and were in great shape. There were so many, it was amazing to watch them as they were released. All the aphids in my garden disappeared quickly.
Great buy!

I ordered ladybugs for my daughter's birthday party. The included instructions were simple and easy. The kids loved analyzing the bugs and then letting them loose in their gardens.
Lucky me!
- By Lisa H. on May 10, 2011
The Arbico Organics company is excellent. Quick reliable service. Product (live ladybugs) were as promised. The only draw back with the "bag O' bugs" was that once I opened the bag to let "some out" it was hard to close up the bag again. They all wanted to crawl up the neck of the bag to escape. I was afraid to squish any. Luckily, I have 10 acre with 15 newly planted fruit and nut trees and a garden so there was plenty for them to do. They took care of the aphids in two days. Maybe it would be better to ship them in two or three bags. Still, I will order from this company again. They say if a ladybug lands on you it's a sign of good luck. Boy, was I lucky that day :). Thanks!
No more white flies
- By Mark Baxter on May 11, 2011
We had Gardenias that were at risk of dying from a white fly infestation. I set the 1500 ladybugs loose on the ground below the gardenias AND WITHIN A WEEK, NO MORE WHITE FLIES.
Ladybugs Alive and Well
- By Amy Read on May 23, 2011
I received the ladybugs within several days of ordering them and released them a couple of days later. The bugs were very active and ate all the aphids on our roses. I will definitely order ladybugs from Arbico next year.

All ladybugs were delivered as promised and all arrived alive. Within a week I spied ladybugs engaged in conjugal bliss so they obviously acclimated very well.
Best prices & worked great
- By Eva on May 31, 2011
Received the order in a very timely manner. The directions were followed by spraying water on the plants for them to drink when they were released. They were really thirsty and the instant the ladybugs were out I saw them start eating away at the aphids in the greenhouse. It was amazing to watch them go to work so soon. Very happy that it worked. Thanks
:D
- By Stacey on May 31, 2011
Although I was a bad mama and my ladybugs chose a different place to live, they arrived quickly, were alive and had very detailed instructions for releasing them.... that I did not follow very well :(
Healthiest Ladybugs I received this year
- By Nancy G. on Aug 1, 2011
I ordered ladybugs from two suppliers this year. My order of ladybugs from the other supplier was DOA; their replacement sent over a month later had only 10% alive on arrival. My order from Arbico was on time and HEALTHY--next year I will order all my ladybugs from Arbico.
They're helping
- By Marjorie C on Jul 25, 2011
The ladybugs arrived in good health(alive), with good instructions on how to use them. They are helping to control the aphids on my honeysuckle, and even though most of them left, they left some larvae behind. Improvements weren't drastic, but they seem to be slowly improving.
Lively Ladybugs
- By Steve S on Aug 29, 2011
Ladybugs arrived within a few days via Fedex. Only a few not alive. I followed the included directions and gave them a little water and then released about 1/2 the next morning when it was cooler. I put the rest away for a week then released them. A dramatic decrease in aphid activity in my Crepe Myrtles/

Aphid invasion
- By Carol D. on Nov 28, 2011
Fall aphid invasion due to drought and area farmers not being able to plant usual crops. Aphids moved into town and took up residence in pecan trees, raining sticky "honeydew" onto everything --a horrible mess! Ladybugs arrived in good shape and upon release went to work. Also added thousands of green lacewing eggs to assist. Don't know whether or not lacewings hatched, but at any rate the aphids are history. Thank you for a nature-friendly, nonpesticide means of addressing problem.
Ladybugs
- By Anthony on Oct 24, 2011
For the second consecutive summer, your product was of quality and your delivery of such was swift allowing me to kill off an Aphid problem before any real damage was done.
Pretty good, did their job
- By Jenn P. on May 21, 2012
I released the ladybugs into the garden as instructed, but ended up having to use the whole pack. I wanted to use half but after removing them from the fridge, opening and attempting to dump ou half, they warmed up & woke up too quickly to where I couldn't close the bag, they were all crawling out. Many left but many stayed a few days. Once the aphid problem was taken care of, we see only a few here and there in the garden. They did their job, I just wish I could've gotten them to stay more permanently. I used the ladybug "food" spray but it didn't keep them around once they got rid of my aphids.

Very easy to order. Arbico is a great source for all my pest control problems. The insects arrived alive (all 1500 of them) and had easy to follow instructions on how to care for them. I will order from Arbico Organics everytime from here on out.

Love and Love
- By Mariela on Mar 17, 2012
I ordered 1.500 ladybugs for my son's birthday party. They arrived on time and pretty much alive. I followed the instructions until the released day and it was a huge success. After a quick ladybug lesson we released them and the kids were so amazed and happy. The ladybugs flew everywhere, they went to the trees, flowers and plants around the park. It was a nice touch for my son's bug birthday party. Parents were trilled about it and my son was so happy. Thanks for your excellent services!
Afterschool Mentor
- By S. Pennell on Apr 3, 2012
We purchased 4,500 ladybugs to release in our inner city afterschool program garden to help control the white flies and other insects that had infested our plants. We had a "Ladybug Release Party" with the students, allowing them to help the ladybugs get onto the plants. The ladybugs arrived alive and the students had a wonderful time watching and releasing them.
Lively Bugs!
- By Lynn N. on Jan 31, 2012

Great Company
- By Jessica Y on Jan 9, 2012
Ladybugs arrived alive and active. We have a small u-pick farm and grow everything naturally. To get the kids involved I held a ladybug release party. It was a total hit. Will be ordering another 70,000 in a couple weeks. Great quality, ladybugs even survived the cold snap we had where it got down to 33 degrees.
Ladybugs

Love those little ladies
- By Carol on Apr 2, 2012
For the wonderful work they do and even though I didn't know quite how to handle them, they went to work doing their natural thing of ridding my tree of white fly. If only the rest of the country would use natural methods instead of poisoning the planet and the little creatures so helpful to us.
Ladybugs - Oh right!!!
- By Harry Bennett on Apr 4, 2012
Quite happy with the condition and quantity of the Ladybug shipment just received - most actually stayed around and kept my plants clean for several days. Will order again in the future...
Aphids Beware!
- By Holly on Apr 4, 2012
The ladies are on the loose... I received my package of ladies in a timely fashion - they were all happy and healthy when they arrived. I let them out in the garden about a month ago and we still catch glimpses of them on the roses as well as elsewhere in the gaden. We will be ordering more for sure as the weather warms up.
One Happy Customer
- By Mike C. on Apr 6, 2012
Order arrived on time and in excellent condition. With anything live that is shipped you have to allow for casualties and I was very surprised that there we're only a few. Growing season has just begun here and so far have had almost 100% pest containment rate and happily without the use of pesticides. Thanks Arbico!
Very Happy
- By Steve on Apr 12, 2012
My ladybugs arrived quickly and in good shape, they did their job and my citrus trees have never been cleaner.
Bye Bye aphids!
- By Lonwheels on Apr 13, 2012
This is the second year that I've ordered and released lady bugs. I have one acre of landscaped yard, a vegetable garden and dozens of fruit and nut trees plus 9 acres of pasture. I ordered early and released these beetles as soon as the trees leafed out. It worked beautifully. No Aphids! I still see many lady bugs along with their young offspring. Nature is a beautiful thing!
Preschool Ladybug Release
- By Sheila on May 21, 2012
The ladybugs were beautiful. We did a release with our preschool children. Dressed in lady bug hats, lady bug shirts and even faces painted like lady bugs, the children were thrilled. Our lessons focused on the importance of the lady bug to our environment. Finding them in the grass after the release was more exciting than the egg hunt.
Successful Earth Day
- By Chris on May 14, 2012
Thank you Arbico Organics. Ladybugs arrived right on time for date requested. They were very lively and we had a successful earth day celebration. Ordering was easy, love the fact that they paid attention to customer notes and provided email updates and order tracking.
