Back in 1907, the USDA claimed that this was the most widely grown and best known pole bean in America. 100 years later, the Kentucky Wonder Bean remains a wildly popular go-to variety of green beans. These tall (from 5-7') plants produce clusters of 7-10" stringless pods that have a rumpled appearance and may contain brown or white seeds. These beans remain tender and flavorful even in the larger pods; but, if you harvest them young and frequently, you will have an abundance of deliciousness throughout their extended growing season. These beans will be scrumptious no matter how you like them – fresh, canned or even sautéed.
