This super-producing bean has been a standard since it was first introduced in South Carolina in 1965. Provider beans are an excellent option for early planting as they thrive in cooler soil and weather conditions. This vigorous plant is very stress-tolerant and easy to grow and will continue to set beans throughout the season. Compact, bush-habit plants will grow to be about 20-24" tall with meaty pale green 5½" long by ¼" wide pods. Inside the round, smooth pods you will find brownish purple or maroon seeds. These beans are excellent for canning as they will hold their crispy, sweet flavor without becoming mushy or soggy. Highly resistant to Common Bean Mosaic and Downy Mildew.
