Alfalfa is a nitrogen-fixing cover crop that provides good yields, fast regrowth, superior winter hardiness and medium fall dormancy. Makes excellent forage when combined with any grass and grows well in a wide variety of soils. This is a perennial seed that can be used in areas that are to be left fallow for extended periods.
The alfalfa can be cut several times during the summer months - it is an excellent addition to compost piles!
- Fixes up to 200 lbs. of nitrogen per acre (with sufficient phosphorus, calcium and sulfur in the soil).
- Yields up to 10 tons of organic matter per acre.
- Suitable for 3-5 year rotations.
- Contains ~22% protein.
- Resistant to pests.
Suggested Uses: Seed at 15 - 20 lbs. per acre or at 5 - 10 lbs. when mixed with other seeds.
