Mycotrol WPO is a mycoinsecticide, an insecticide using live fungal spores, and comes as a wettable powder to be mixed with water and sprayed during application. The active ingredient is Beauveria bassiana, which provides a natural control for a wide variety of insects at various life stages. Mycotrol WPO contains the highest spore concentration in a Beauveria bassiana-containing insecticide. After application, the spores adhere to the host insect and use enzymes to attack and ultimately dissolve the cuticle that surrounds and contains the body cavity. As it grows, the Beauveria bassiana fungus will ultimately kill the unwanted insects without harming most beneficials.
Mycotrol WPO can be used as a foliar or turf spray or as a root drench.
- Do not apply this product in a way that will contact workers or other persons, either directly or through drift. Only protected handlers may be in the area during application.
- For any requirements specific to your state or tribe, consult the state or tribal agency responsible for pesticide regulations.

Application Tips
Apply Mycotrol WPO at 5-10 day intervals. High insect populations, especially whitefly and aphids, may require application at 2-5 day intervals. Repeat applications for as long as pest pressures persist. There is no limit on the number of applications or total amount of Mycotrol WPO that can be used in one season.
Application Rate: Rates depends on pest insect population.
Severe Infestations:
Apply Mycotrol WPO up to a maximum of 3 lbs per 100 gallons spray volume for high insect populations or dense foliage. Use quantity of spray sufficient for thorough coverage of the foliage infested with insects. Crop size, spray equipment and local practice will determine the volume of water needed. 100 gallons of spray volume will typically cover 5,000-20,000 square feet. SPRAY TO WET BUT AVOID RUNOFF.
Typical Pest Control Application Rates per 100 Gallons of Water:
- Whitefly and Aphids: 1/2-1 pound of Mycotrol WPO per 100 gallons of spray volume.
- Thrips: 1-2 pounds of Mycotrol WPO per 100 gallons of spray volume.
- Other Labelled Insects: 1/2-2 pounds of Mycotrol WPO per 100 gallons of spray volume.
Low Volume Application:
Apply at a rate equivalent to area coverage of high volume spray. This would normally be ½ to 2 lbs for 5,000-20,000 square feet. Follow spray equipment manufacturer's instructions for final spray volume to obtain adequate coverage. DO NOT APPLY THROUGH A THERMAL PULSE FOGGER.
Cuttings Dip:
Applications of Mycotrol WPO may be used as pre-planting dips for cuttings as noted below. To prepare the dip solution, thoroughly mix ¼-½ oz. per gallon of water (2½-5 oz. per 10 gallons of water). Prepare only as much dip solution as can be used in one day. Do not use dip solution for more than one day. Spores in water for more than 24 hours day will die. Dip a small number of plants in the dip solution and observe for plant damage before using dip treatment. Do not use dips if there is any visible damage to test plants.
Turf and Soil Applications/Container/Ornamentals:
For most soil applications, apply 1-4 oz (up to ¼ lb) per 1,000 square feet. For difficult to control soil pests, especially citrus root weevil (Diaprepes abreviatus), Mycotrol WPO can be applied at 4 oz per 1,000 sq. ft. Do not apply to water-saturated soil. Apply Mycotrol WPO in enough water to ensure even coverage of the treated area, at least one gallon of water per 1,000 square feet. Irrigate treated area after application to disperse Mycotrol WPO into soil.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid storage below freezing temperatures or above 85°F. Mycotrol WPO stability decreases with time at temperatures above 85°F. Tightly close the container of unused product. Do not contaminate unused product with water.
Shipping Restrictions: Cannot ship via USPS.
Warning & Toxicities:
This product is potentially pathogenic to honey bees. Avoid applying to areas where honey bees are actively foraging or around beehives. This product may also be toxic to fish. Drift and runoff may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in water adjacent to treated areas.
For terrestrial uses: Do not apply directly to water, or to areas where surface water is present or in intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Do not contaminate water by cleaning of equipment or disposal of equipment wash waters or rinsate. Do not discharge into lakes, streams, ponds, or public waterways.
