This broad spectrum bioinsecticide contains the fungus Metarhizium brunneumstrain F52 (formerly known as Metarhizium anisopliae) and is a granular formulation that can be used for foliar and soil pest management. LALGUARD 52 GR is effective control for these common greenhouse, nursery and landscape pests: Black Vine Weevil larvae, whiteflies, thrips (including pupae). It is also used for control of ticks in landscape and turf applications.
Grown on grains of rice, the fungus Metarhizium brunneumstrain F52 releases spores that will adhere to pests' bodies when pests encounter the spores from LALGUARD M52 GR. These Metarhizium brunneumstrain F52 spores will germinate and then access the main body cavity of the target pest through the pest's cuticle within 3-4 hours. The spores will then then colonize the pest host and cause death in about 3-7 days.
Temperatures will affect results and at very cold or hot temperatures death may occur more slowly. In addition, the pathogenic fungal spores will be more persistent when incorporated with growing media than when applied to foliage.
