This biodynamic variety of sweet pepper looks very much like an Anaheim Hot Pepper, long (around 8") and conical, with coloring that changes from green to red as it matures. But, unlike the hot Anaheim, this pepper is sweet. These plants produce heavily and the peppers can be eaten when green; but they are at their peak of sweetness when bright red. This Italian Sweet Pepper has walls that are on the thick side, which makes them perfect for stuffing and durable enough for frying. Try pickling them for a unique treat. Sowing Indoors: Start seeds 8-10 weeks before your average last frost date. Use a sterile seeding mix and keep uniformly moist. Germination may be slow and erratic. Provide the seedlings with plenty of light to produce strong, high-yielding, mature plants. Use a heat mat to achieve the optimum soil temperature.
Growing Tips: Once seedlings have at least 3 sets of true leaves, expose them to 50°F nighttime and 70°F day temps. To increase early flower production, transplant outdoors once soil temperatures reach 65°F.
