Ancora works by utilizing the naturally occurring, entomopathogenic fungus Isaria fumosorosea Apopka Strain 97 to infect and kill a long list of crop-damaging insects. This fungal strain is native to the United States and infects both soil and foliage dwelling insects. When applied, the blastospores in Ancora will attach to and penetrate the target insect. The spores will then grow inside the insect, infecting it and causing death within 3-5 days. Once the insect is dead, the spores erupt from their host insect and seek the nearest host insect to begin the cycle again. In this way, the fungus continuously propagates throughout the pest population and supplies ongoing control.
Benefits of Ancora:
- For use in organic (OMRI listed) and conventional growing.
- Broad spectrum control for many of the most common insect pests.
- Can be used in commercial and non-commercial settings, grown indoors or outdoors.

Ancora can be used on the following crops:
Bedding plants, fruit trees (bearing and non-bearing), grapevines, herbs and spices, melons, nursery stock, ornamental plants (foliage and flowering plants, cut flowers, greens, shrubs), strawberries, tobacco and vegetables.
This Product Controls These Pests or Diseases: Aphids (Aphidoidea), Black Vine Weevil (Otiorhynchus sulcatus), Citrus Leafminer (Phyllocnistis citrella), Coleoptera grubs and larvae, Crown weevils, Leafminers (Liriomyza spp.), Lepidoptera caterpillars and larvae, Mealybugs (Pseudococcidae), Plant Bugs (Lygus spp.), Psyllids, Root Worms (Chrysomelidae), Spider Mites (Tetranychidae), Thrips (Thysanoptera), Whiteflies (Aleyrodidae), Wireworms (Elateridae) and more.
For Maximum Effectiveness of Ancora:
- Apply just before or at the first sign that target pests are present.
- Apply when relative humidity is 80% or higher for 8-10 hours. Watering walkways, operating sprinklers, misters or cooling pads or irrigating will increase humidity levels.
- Apply at times of low air movement and moderate temperature (70-90°F) to reduce drying conditions.
- Make a minimum of two applications, 3-5 days apart.
- Use a spreader/sticker or horticultural oil at the labeled rates.
Application Rates: Spray Ancora on a preventative schedule or at the first sign of pest presence.
Apply to moderately moist soils using volumes that thoroughly wet the soil but do not cause significant runoff or drip from pots.
- Foliar - Spray rates range from 14-28 oz. of product per 100 gal. of water, depending on the target pest and spray frequency (for more details, see product label under the DOCS tab).
- Drench - Use at the rate of 14-28 oz. of product per 100 gal. of water. Apply in sufficient water and for sufficient duration to distribute evenly to entire treated area.
Foliar Spray Applications:
- Repeat at 3- 5 day intervals (using the low rate) as necessary to control insect populations.
- Ancora is compatible with most pesticides. It can be mixed with copper-based fungicides without impacting performance. However, do not mix with other fungicides, or apply within 5 days of fungicide applications other than copper.
Drench Applications:
- Drench applications are aimed at thrips pupae and other soil inhabiting insect pests.
- Apply at 14-28 oz. of product per 100 gal. of water.
