Spheratax SPH 50G WSP brings selective powerful mosquito control right to where mosquitoes breed. This microbial larvicide contains Bacillus sphaericus spores, a naturally occurring beneficial organism that kills mosquito larvae rapidly. When used as directed and introduced to organic-rich water sites, spores are consumed by mosquito larvae. Once ingested, the bacteria spores release toxins into the guts of juvenile mosquitoes. These toxins bind to receptor cells in the digestive system, causing larvae to stop eating and die. This process only affects actively feeding mosquito larvae and does not impact other adult insects, birds or mammals.
Consider using Spheratax SPH 50G Granules or Aquabac 200G Granules if wettable powder applications are not suitable in your treatment area. Both are similar mosquito larvicides with minimal impact on non-target pests.
This Product Controls These Pests or Diseases: Aedes vexans, Anopheles quadrimaculatus, Coquillettidia perturbans, Culex spp., Ochlerotatus melanimon (Aedes melanimon), Ochlerotatus nigromaculis (Aedes nigromaculis), Ochlerotatus sollicitans (Aedes sollicitans), Ochlerotatus stimulans (Aedes stimulans), Ochlerotatus triseriatus (Aedes triseriatus), Psorophora columbiae, Psorophora ferox
Spheratax SPH is effective for approximately 1-4 weeks after application. and comes in two different application options.
Each case of 20 zip-locked foil, resealable bags contains 40 water soluble pouches of 10 grams each (a total of 800 per case). Use 1 pouch per 50 square feet of water surface area. This option allows for treatment of a variety of smaller breeding areas, such as ponds or fountains, by simply dropping a pouch in water. It will dissolve and release the spores. Once the foil bag containing the Water Soluble Pouches is opened, use pouches within one day.
Suggested Uses: Spheratax SPH (50g) is a highly selective microbial insecticide that is effective against mosquitoes in a variety of habitats. Apply Spheratax SPH (50g) to any water sites except treated, finished water reservoirs or drinking water receptacles when the water is intended for human consumption. Spheratax SPH (50g) can be applied to areas that contain aquatic life, fish and plants. Spheratax SPH (50g) can be applied to areas used by or in contact with humans, animals, horses, livestock, pets, birds or wildlife.
Application Rate:
Wastewater, Storm Water/Drainage Systems, Marine/Coastal Areas, Water Bodies, Dormant Rice Fields - 5-20 lbs per acre of water surface
Use higher rates (10-20 lbs per acre of water surface) where extended residual control is necessary, or in habitats with deep water or dense surface cover. Apply uniformly by aerial and conventional ground equipment. Reapply as needed after 1-4 weeks. Avoiding spray drift at the application site is the responsibility of the applicator. The interaction of many equipment and weather related factors determine the potential spray drift. The applicator and treatment coordinator are responsible for considering all these factors when making decisions.
Environment: Wastewater, Storm Water/Drainage Systems, Marine/Coastal Areas, Water Bodies (natural and man-made aquatic sites such as lakes, ponds, rivers, canals, and streams) and Dormant Rice Fields.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place.
