WaspsThere are two types of wasps:
Social Wasps such as Common Wasps, Paper Wasps, Yellow Jackets and Hornets.
Solitary Wasps such as Potter Wasps, Cicada Killer Wasps and Mud Dauber Wasps.
Some wasps are regarded as beneficial insects. As they develop nests in the spring and early summer the worker wasps collect insect larvae and thereby help control insect pests. Mostly, however, wasps are regarded as nuisance pests, particularly when attracted to sweet materials like rotting fruits and vegetables. Most people are concerened with the sting of the wasp. Unlike the sting of a bee, the wasp sting can be withdrawn from the victim and used to sting again.
