Weevil Trio - Framed Art

We are pleased to offer the artistic work of Katie VanBlaricum, whose fascination with bugs has led her to truly unusual and inspiring pieces. She mounts insects on subtle backgrounds and presents them as framed art. She acquires the sustainably farmed insects – in this case Weevils – from around the world, rehydrates them and then painstakingly positions them for display. She has set these three weevils against a light blue contemporary background that shows them off nicely. The colors of these three species are real–they really do have turquoise polka-dots and metallic coloration. This piece comes framed in an 8"x10", double-matted with black and ivory in a black wood frame. It is ready to hang on the wall or can stand upright. What a spectacular gift for a bug lover!

The spotted weevil on bottom is Pachyrrhynchus helleri from the Philippines. The gold/green one on the top is Celebia arrigans from Indonesia, and the striped one in the middle is Eupholus magnificus from Papua New Guinea. Each weevil is about an inch in height.
