We are pleased to feature Barbara Bosco’s exquisite butterfly creations. Each 'naturally expired' Monarch continues to share the translucent beauty of its jeweled wings in this original design solid Sterling Silver Cuff Bracelet with Large Oval Monarch Bezel, sealed with glasslike epoxy resins.
The artist’s collection is lovingly made from “naturally expired” Monarch butterflies that were raised on butterfly farms. The farms help keep the ecosystem intact, and no living creature is destroyed to make these striking pieces.
The artist works alone to capture the translucent light from the tiny faceted scales of the butterfly wings and presents them as a tribute to the Monarch, one of the true miracles of Nature, who only average a nine-month lifespan.
The photograph is a sample bracelet; the individual wing portion will differ with each bezel.

The Monarch in legend
Most Monarch butterflies migrate to the northern state of Sinaloa, Mexico to overwinter. Then they return in the Spring to their birthplaces in the United States. The Aztecs believed that the souls of departed loved ones remained on earth in the form of butterflies. There are images carved in ancient Aztec monuments linking the spirits of the dead with the Monarch butterfly. When the Monarch butterflies return to Mexico, it is usually November 1, All Saint’s Day, when ancestors are remembered. The Mexicans in Sinaloa welcome the Monarch as they remember and celebrate their departed loved ones.
