Sap Beetle
Sap beetles are small beetles that feed on the sap from tree wounds, damaged fruits and vegetables, and fermenting plant fluids of decaying fruits and vegetables. They are typically black, sometimes spotted, and all have characteristic knobbed antennae. They are around ¼ to 1/8 inch long.
Sap beetles do not normally attack healthy fruits and vegetables. They are attracted to a garden by fermenting, overripe produce, and may also infest undamaged, developing fruits and vegetables, particularly berries or corn.
