Mounted and Framed King Grasshopper

We are pleased to offer the artistic work of Katie VanBlaricum, whose fascination with bugs has led her to truly unusual and inspiring pieces. She mounts insects on subtle backgrounds and presents them as framed art. She acquires the sustainably farmed insects – in this case the King Grasshopper – from around the world, rehydrates them and then painstakingly positions them for display. She has set this specimen with his colorful wings spread on a black and ivory double-matted wood frame that is slightly larger than 8" x 10". The opening where the Grasshopper is displayed is 5" x 7". It is ready to hang on the wall or can stand upright. He is sure to add an elegant touch to the décor of the bug lover who receives it as a gift!

The King Grasshopper, Phymateus saxosus, comes from Madagascar. This particular species is about 3" tall with approximately a 4" wingspan.
