About Fly Eliminators Fly Eliminators are gnat-sized, nocturnal, burrowing insects that do not bite, sting, or harm humans and animals. Adaptable to all climates, these parasites reproduce in two to three weeks, thus constantly reinforcing the beneficial population. Expect a reduction in general fly population in four to six weeks. At night ARBICO's tiny parasites seek out the pupa of the fly. They make a tiny tear in the pupa to feed and the females deposit (oviposit) their eggs within the pupa. Those eggs in turn begin to develop and feed on the developing fetal fly... eliminating flies. In about 17 to 21 days those parasites will hatch out of the fly pupa and begin the cycle all over again. Releasing parasites is fun and something the whole family can do together. It is safe, non-toxic, USDA approved and very affordable when compared to poisons! Life Cycle of the Fly The fly lays an egg that looks like a speck of sugar. Within a short time, literally hours, the egg develops into a larva that we call a maggot, which is microscopic and so small it is almost impossible to see. This little maggot is light sensitive and with it's strong little body writhes and undulates itself deep into the ground and manure away from the outdoor light. Once buried, it continues to feed and grow until it reaches a certain size and then it pupates. This is the cocoon stage of the fly which looks like the size and shape of a piece of rice and chocolate in color. Shipment and Release Rate Fly parasites are shipped via US Mail or 3 Day FedEx Saver. Once they arrive, examine the clear plastic bag for significant insect movement. When you see 30 50 insects crawling around the top of the bag, it is time to disperse the parasites. You can release the insects before they hatch; however, they must be covered with a thin layer of manure or ground cover to prevent birds and ants from consuming the unhatched fly parasites. If you do not see movement within the bag, you can speed up the process by placing the bag in an old pillowcase and setting it on top of your hot water heater. Make sure you check them every day.
Where To Release Fly Parasites Release insects to all potential fly-breeding areas. Some "hot spot" locations include the following: Manure and Urination Areas: • Inside barns, stables, stalls, hospital pens, or loafing sheds • Around corral posts. Paddock areas, along fence lines, and other frequented dropping sites • Around the perimeters of manure piles, pits, bins, or carts • In kennel or coop areas where manure accumulates Watering and Feeding areas: • Under water troughs, around barrels, buckets, or other devices • Where spilling or leakage occurs • Around bathing areas, drainage sites, and perimeters of run-off or stagnant pools • Areas where feed, straw, or hay have decomposed Other Fly-Breeding Areas: • Around compost piles and family gardens • Alongside garbage cans How to Release Your Fly Eliminators The insects are shipped as parasitized pupae in a wood chip medium and are dispersed by releasing a small handful at "hot spots". To release, scratch a 1-inch hole in the ground with your boot heel, drop in a small handful of sawdust and pupae, and cover them with straw, earth, or manure to protect them against wind, birds, ants or pesticides. The amount of parasites to release depends upon the size of the "hot spot". Use as small as a teaspoon or as large an amount as a handful. These parasites travel 30 to 50 meters in search of visible fly larvae and pupae. Seed as many hot spots as possible with your first application, concentrating heavily on the obvious fly-breeding areas. Repeat this release procedure in slightly different spots on subsequent applications. In this way, new cultures of parasites will be evenly distributed throughout the fly season. DO NOT place the parasitized pupae in standing pools of water or in the center of manure piles. Instead, apply them around the perimeters. How To Store DO NOT leave insect shipments in direct sunlight or areas of intense heat. Store them at room temperature (approximately 70 80 degrees F) until they begin to hatch. If needed they can be stored at 42 degrees F in a refrigerator for 3 - 5 days. SPRING AND WINTER: Maintain parasites at 80 degrees F to ensure proper hatching. Temperatures below 80 degrees F slow the process. SUMMER AND FALL: Warmer temperatures may cause hatching to occur more quickly. It is normal to receive your shipment and find parasites in the process of hatching. Release immediately. Hatching will continue over the next several days as the product has several stages of maturity. When To Release Fly Eliminators Begin your program when spring temperatures first arrive. It only takes three consecutive days of 40 degrees F weather for the overwintering fly populations to start developing. Each female fly will lay 1,000 eggs in her lifetime, so it is very important to release the fly parasites before you see the first fly of the season. The released fly parasites will start parasitizing the overwintering pupae, thereby reinforcing the indigenous fly parasite populations and killing it's host before the fly develops any further. Continue releasing the fly parasites throughout the entire fly season, until the first significant frost. It's important to release all recommended batches. The last batch will overwinter for the next fly control season, reviving around the same time the overwintering fly, still in the pupae stage, starts to develop. Notify an ARBICO consultant if any of your conditions change. ie. You have more animals. Ants are becoming a problem. Your next door neighbor just brought home 10 calves and they are 50 ft. from your back door. Use fly parasites in conjunction with EM-1 Microbial Inoculant to help break down organic matter along with good manure management. Pesticide Susceptibility Do not spray the facility at the same time you release the insects. If you must spray, we recommend that you spray 48 hours before or after releasing the parasites. Specialized or Custom Fly Control Programs: If you don't see a program that fits your needs, we will be happy to help you set up the proper custom program. Dear Arbico, I bought an extra unit because I probably failed to get out my regular shipment when they were fully hatched, and the flies were about to carry me off. Your product is great! I think the very wet monsoons we had during that period contributed to the substandard hatch I got, but again, I have to take responsibility for when I turned them out. My normal shipment works great for 5 dogs, a cat, and 2 horses.
Thanks,
Rick

I have been very pleased. I don't have to use fly masks and don't have to feed anything to my horses for fly control.

This is the first time trying this product. I can tell you it really works. I started using it in the spring, and the fly population dropped to just about zero. Didn't need to use any fly spray on the horses or myself. No more flies while cleaning the barn either.
The best!

I love the service that I have received from your company. Deb, the rep who took my phone order, was THE BEST!! I look forward to receiving my monthly shipments and doing business with Arbico in the years to come!
Awesome fly control
- By Sydney M. on Jan 16, 2011
I ordered my first shipment of Fly Eliminators last April (2009)two months later than Arbico recommends starting for fly control in central Florida. I was a little skeptical but I don't like using strong chemicals on my two horses and summer time flies are terrible. Swarms of flies in the stalls and paddocks, and the cost of the fly spray for the horses and the premises was getting way too expensive and most of the time, didn't work! Imagine my surprise, when after the first application of the fly eliminators, there was a dramatic decrease in the number of flies around my barn and paddocks and especially in the horses' stalls. I'm ready to order my Fly Eliminators for 2011, early, this year. Thank you, Arbico for making my horses happier and fly free! Great product!!
Very Happy

I cannot tell how effective my treatment is, since I have only used the Fly Eliminator for one month. The purchasing and shipping service has been very good. So far I am very pleased with Arbico Organics.
Changed Life
- By Lendell on Apr 10, 2011
Fly Eliminators certainly changed my life. I can now spend the day outside whether in the barn or pasture or handling the livestock without being bothered at all by flies. It is a rare occasion that a nuisance fly even comes around. Life is wonderful!!

Less Flies
- By Corine B on May 3, 2011
We tried another spray-on fly eliminator last summer, what a mistake. It was more expensive (much more) and the flies became out of control. This fly season we will be using Fly Eliminators and never going to endure another fly season without them. Great product and great results.
Fly Eliminators
- By Janet on May 8, 2011
I bought the Fly Eliminator as a last resort was sure it wouldn't work LOL. To my suprise those little bugs are the greatest thing to hit my barn. I have 5 horses and by this time of year I would be infested with fly's but after using these bugs which took control immediately I might have 10 fly's in my barn. Love this product and would recommend it to any barn. Stockton Farm

Fly Parasites
- By Allen Lomax on Jun 15, 2011
I've used Arbico fly parasites for four years. They make an enormous difference in the barn's fly population. In the barn I don't use any other form of pest control. Out in open pasture I still use fly spray but in the enclosed areas of the barn, the fly parasites are on the job 24/7 and they do a very good job. Arbico is always responsive and services all customer needs promptly and professionally.

- By ttebo on Jun 22, 2011
This is our first time using fly eliminators. Though we still have flies, I'm sure we would of had more of a problem if we didn't get fly eliminators. I am confident that with the next few applications, we will continue to get positive results.
Awesome product!
- By Judy Tyni on Jul 16, 2011
I seriously had my doubts about this working but... after only one application, within two weeks we had no more flies! Last summer, we were constantly spraying our horses and this year we have none to be seen! Thanks for such a great product! Judy Tyni

Big improvement
- By JW on Jul 19, 2011
I've seen an enormous improvement with fly control with Fly Eliminators. I have three horses, and prior to the Fly Eliminators, the fly problem was out of control. Since using fly eliminators, there are far fewer flies!
They work if you series
- By K. on Jul 29, 2011
The parasites work great. Must use on a steady basis. Takes about 2 months to really get rolling. There appears to be a residual beneficial effect the next summer if you don't use them but isn't nearly as good as continuing the series. Much cheaper and less toxic than fly sprays. My horses eyes, bellies, and ears became clear of attack.
Fly Eliminators WORK!
- By Paul A. on Aug 9, 2011
Tried these last year and were amazed at how well they worked. We got a huge reduction of the number of flies, even though most neighbors have lots of animals and do not use anything to control the associated flies.

Knockum Out!
- By D.W.W. on Aug 26, 2011
Thank you for what you do Arbico. The fly eliminators have always worked fantastic around my place for years. I have several head of cattle, two large dogs, and a huge composter that just breed the flies here. This product knocks them almost completely out in a very short time. I can't speek more highly of this and the other products I've used from your company. Please keep up the good work with a superior product line.
Wonderful
