Target: Helps eliminate problems associated with calcium deficiency like Blossom-end Rot in tomatoes and peppers, bitter-pit in apples, cavity spot in carrots, and "tip-burn" in some brassica crops.
This OMRI listed product can be used on vegetables and ornamentals (not for corn), to help prevent calcium deficient related diseases, increase crop yield and lengthen produce storage period. Calcium-25® for Vegetables and Ornamentals differs from other forms of calcium, as its patented formula allows for efficient absorption.
The calcium in this unique product has been attached to waxy compounds. Plant leaves contain waxy components that aid in protection and growth regulation. When plants are actively growing, these waxy compounds will allow substances to permeate into the leaf. When correctly applied to growing foliage, absorption of the calcium occurs because the waxy compound in the formula mimics those naturally occurring on leaf surfaces. Once permeated, calcium spreads through the plant, promoting growth.
Usage Recommendations: Dilute product at a ratio of one level teaspoon per gallon of water. Do not use any additives or apply simultaneously with other liquid fertilizers, as this will interfere with the absorption. Use a hand sprayer, with a fine mist to apply to plants. Apply at a rate that delivers product to the entire plant with droplets remaining present for approximately 10 minutes. For best results, utilize the detailed recommendations for timing of application that is crop specific.
For most crops, apply early or midway in the season and spray when temperatures are warm and are approximately 77° F or higher. Repeated applications are recommended for crops such as tomatoes, peppers, ornamentals, grapes, and tobacco. Spray up to 2 weeks before harvest to improve storage life. Apply fertilizers about 24 hours after application.
