|  WeedGuardPlus® is an ecologically friendly way to stop weeds before they start in your flower bed, garden or field. WeedGuardPlus is 100% opaque, so weeds can’t get light and therefore can’t grow. Made from specially engineered cellulose fiber (paper-like material), it does not contain harmful chemicals. It also contains a wet-strength component that is FDA approved, so it can withstand heavy spring rains. As a natural mulch, it is a great alternative to plastic. WeedGuardPlus® has excellent porosity which permits air and water transmission to your soil. And its opaqueness also helps soil retain a bit more moisture – no sun bakes down on bare ground. The dark brown color also absorbs sunlight early in the season, warming your soil and aiding in early plant development. Put WeedGuardPlus® in place before you install transplants or seedlings, or before you sow seeds. Simply prepare the ground, place WeedGuardPlus over the soil, and cover the edges with dirt. TIP: as spring can be a windy time of year, be sure to cover the edge with at least 5-6 inches of soil measured from the edge, to about 2 inches deep. This will hold WeedGuardPlus in place. Sprinkle it with water to help it conform to the soil bed. Either sow seeds in between the strips or create holes in the paper mulch for placement of your seedlings. Water normally, knowing that you won’t see any weeds! If you wish to use Weed Guard Plus in a smaller area or for container gardening, it can be cut with scissors to conform to the area. It is about as thick as a business card, but is pliable. You can custom fit it to any layout. |
