Prevent worm pests before plants or trees become damaged with these popular moth egg parasites!

Target Pests: The eggs of more than 200 pests, including borers, webworm, loopers, leafworm, fruitworm, cutworm, bollworm and armyworm (except beet armyworm).

What You Receive: The Trichogramma are shipped as pupae inside of host eggs that are glued to perforated cards. The cards can be separated and hung directly on the plants or trees. Each individual square on a card contains approx. 2,400 Trichogramma eggs ready to hatch. Adult Trichogramma wasps begin to emerge within 2-3 days at 68-90º F.

How to Use: Release immediately upon receipt. Release Trichogramma at first flight of moths and every 7-10 days thereafter until infestation subsides. It is best to release in the early morning or evening. Suspend the cards out of direct sunlight, below plant tops or in trees where moths have been seen. Cards or squares can be put on stakes or hung from the edge of a pot. Do not touch the eggs. Leave the cards in place for at least 7 days to allow all eggs to hatch.

The use of Pheromone traps and visual inspection of foliage for moth eggs will help determine the best time to release Trichogramma. Timing is important, release too early and there aren't enough pest eggs for the wasps to parasitize and too late means that the pest eggs have hatched and you have a new problem, caterpillar pests.

Biology & Life Cycle: Trichogramma wasps lay their eggs inside the pest eggs, stopping development. The larvae feed on the egg and then emerge as adults. Trichogramma larvae take 10 days to develop within the pest moth egg, which turns brown or black as the larvae pupate. They chew a small hole in the moth egg to emerge. Adult wasps feed on nectar, honeydew and pollen. The adult wasps live anywhere from 7 to 14 days, depending on temperature and moisture. The females will parasitize up to 300 pest moth eggs, laying one or more eggs inside each moth egg.

Release Rates: 1 square/300 sq. ft. or 1 square/tree in orchards; 1/2 to 2 cards/acre weekly for 2-6 weeks. Each square on the card contains approx. 2,400 Trichogramma eggs.
