Pheromones are chemical signals emitted by insects and other organisms that enable the organisms to communicate with other members of the same species. Pheromones are sometimes referred to as "perfumes," particularly those pheromones used to attract members of the opposite sex for purposes of mating. In insect control, pheromones can be used to attract insects to traps or they can be applied in artificially large amounts over a crop to so confuse insects that they fail to find mates and thus fail to reproduce. Pheromone traps are used to monitor for the presence of pests, as control tools to capture insects, as confusants to disrupt insect mating and as lures to attract insects to insecticidal baits. Pheromone lures are packaged individually or in airtight jars.

Pheromone lure for Sequoia Pitch Moth

Lure works great along with wing trap kit for insect capture.
Although these are meant for identification, I found that 16 traps with lures has made a real improvement in my infestation problem on my 60 Ponderosa pine trees.
Next year will order 16 more traps in addition to the ones I'm using now.
The replaceable bottom section of the traps will allow use of present traps again next season.
My only complaint (and the reason rating is not a 5) is that removing the backing from the adhesive on the lures is very tedious. You need a tab to grasp; that would make the job much easier.
