How are Nematodes Shipped? REFRIGERATE UPON ARRIVAL. Remove nematode bag(s) from insulated shipping container or packaging and place in refrigerator until ready to use. Nematodes are shipped in an easily dissolved formulation that you mix with water. How are nematodes applied? The solution can be applied using a watering can, hose end sprayer, backpack or pump sprayer or through irrigation or misting systems. Please see the instructions for the RL Flo-Master for hose end sprayer directions. Termite Control Apply NemAttack and NemaSeek together to get the best control. One "farm size" nematode package will treat 40 linear feet of foundation. Apply through tubes inserted around the building perimeter or into trenches. Use as much water as necessary to carry it down into the soil. Beneficial Nematodes are washed into the termite tubes, tunnels, and nests, or they migrate on their own. Once inside the nest, they kill the colony by killing the queens or by killing enough workers and soldiers that the queen starves. When should they be released? Release early in the morning or predusk when temperatures are cooler and the sun is not so bright. Should the soil be moist after the nematode application? The soil should be moist at time of application and lightly watered immediately after application. After application, regular watering of the treated area will provide sufficient moisture. Generally speaking, water every 3-4 days if rainfall does not occur. What's the application rate? Double these numbers for Combo Packs. The Garden Sizes of NemAttack and NemaSeek contain 10 million nematodes and will effectively treat approximately 3,200 sq. ft. The Farm Sizes contain 50 million nematodes and will effectively treat 1/2 to 1 full acre of treatable surface depending upon level of infestation. The Ranch Sizes contain 500 million nematodes and will treat approximately 10 acres. It is best to make at least two applications, separated by 7-10 days in order to stagger the life cycles of the nematodes and to assure complete coverage. In cases of severe infestations, applications should be made every 7-10 days or until infestation subsides. How long can nematodes be kept before use? Beneficial Nematodes can be stored in a refrigerator for up to two months (do not freeze!). The best way to store unused portions is to take them out of the original container and place them in a large shallow storage container. Cover them with no more than a ½ inch of water. Do not seal the shallow storage container completely, Beneficial Nematodes must have air. This storage technique will ensure that the nematodes do not dry out and are exposed to air so they can breathe. How long does it take to see results? In general 3-7 days for caterpillars such as cutworms, armyworms, sod sebworms. For grubs and weevils such as Japanese beetle, black vine weevil and billbugs feeding stops within 3 days with maximum control occurring over 2-4 weeks. Nematodes disintegrate the pests from the inside out. You will not see dead insect bodies as you would with a chemical knockdown. How often should nematodes be applied? Nematodes are recommended for use whenever larvae or grubs are present. Generally, this is during the spring and fall months. Because larvae feed on plant roots, beneath the soil surface, severe damage can be done before realizing there is a problem. Look for signs of an adult insect, such as leaf-notching. If adult insects are present, their eggs will be hatching soon. Keep in mind, one application may not eradicate a population of insects that has become established over a period of years. Will nematodes live through the winter? In general, harsh winter weather in most parts of the country almost guarantees a significant decline in the population of the nematodes. In most cases, nematodes (just like insects) will become dormant during cold weather. Any survivors would be few in number to provide adequate insect control. If your insect pest returns the following year, another application may be necessary. When nematodes are applied to one area will they move to other areas? Nematodes, due to their microscopic nature have limited range of movement. Generally NemAttack, our formulations of Steinernema will stay where you put them, but NemaSeek (Heterorhabditis) will continue moving through the soil until they find a pest to infect. Warranty ARBICO Organics makes no guarantee of effectiveness due to subjectivity of application. ARBICO Organics does guarantee live nematodes upon arrival of product and provides telephone backup for customer questions or problems.

Nematodes
- By Brad T on Jun 21, 2011
Three years ago I tested nematodes around my house and barn. They worked as advertised so last year I treated my whole ten acres and the one big difference is no fire ants. Also, minimal other ground dwelling bugs. I also use fly elimators for my horses... those things are incredable. I recommend ARBICO to all my friends.
Beneficial Nemetodes
- By Robin Thompson on Apr 29, 2011
Last year was the first time that I have used nemetodes on my garden or my lawn. Consequently I never saw a sign of any fleas on my dogs all summer long. It was great to know that they were protected and I didn't have to worry about applying poison or anything else harmful to them. I have purchased both NemAttack and NemaSeek this year for my lawn and my 800 sq. ft. garden. At least with all of this rain we've had it makes it a perfect situation to apply them.
Works for reducing Japanese beetles
- By Nancy Garay on Jun 2, 2011
I saw a tremendous reduction in the Japanese beetle population last season after applying this in spring... I will continue to use this in hopes of getting rid of some additional pests like wireworms/click bugs and cucumber beetles.
NemAttack-NemaSeek Combo
- By David Lipscomb on May 26, 2011
Have purchased this product for the past five years and I have seen a significant reduction in ticks, fleas and Japanese Beetle grubs. Highly recommend this natural control regime for controlling unwanted pests (chemical products are a no-no for our pet friendly family).
Nematodes are working!
- By Denise on Jul 15, 2011
I have to admit, I was skeptical about adding something I couldn't see to my garden. I felt like I was dissolving magic dust or sprinkling sea monkeys on the ground then crossing my fingers and wishing for the best! Lo and behold, less than a week later I found a dead beetle and took that as a good sign. Two weeks after application my eggplant plants which should have been pulled since they were nothing more than 'framework' thanks to flea beetles, starting growing and producing new leaves-without holes! So far, it's been 4 weeks, and I'm very pleased with the results. The only thing I would do differently next time is spend the few extra bucks and buy the sprayer. Taking the time to measure and mix watering cans full was a test of patience : )

Beneficial nematodes
- By Patty on Aug 8, 2011
For 3 years, we have had tomato wilt that doesn't match any of the descriptions online. our extension office could not identify the cause, and a soil analysis revealed nothing, but within 3 days of applying the nematodes, there was a noticable difference, and after the 2nd application 2 weeks later, the problem has completely resolved. This is a great product!
Kills Fleas...I Still Can't Believe It!
- By Denise M. on Aug 20, 2011
I decided to try beneficial nematodes in my yard after trying other organic solutions all summer to kill the fleas that had suddenly become a problem after an unusually wet and mild spring. I was bathing my dogs daily and finding anywhere from 2 to 2 dozen fleas every time. I treated my entire yard with the nematodes and restricted my dogs to quick trips to the front yard for about a week. Either these nematodes were hungry or by some strange coincidence the fleas decided to die, because they've only had a few fleas since then. I am continuing to spray my yard with the nematodes every 2 weeks as advised so that a new batch of fleas doesn't have a chance to re-infest my yard, but now I know what to do next year if they reappear. I won't waste my time and money on ineffective solutions, I'll just order the beneficial nematodes as soon as I see any fleas. Thank you for all your help.
These nematodes do their job!
- By Anita on Nov 3, 2011
This is the 2nd application of the combo pack of nematodes. The 1st erradicated all the grubbs! Over the summer, NO fleas or ticks on my dogs. This fall fleas invaded again, pooches miserable. Applied again and can tell huge drop in infestation in a matter of days. And no chemicals on the dogs. It's expensive but so worth it!
