Natural Horse Care by Pat Coleby examines a broad spectrum of medical problems with horses. Because she believes that good horse care begins with good nutrition, she explores feeding practices, nutrient-deficient feed, poor farming practices, and, ultimately, lack of minerals in the soil. She has a chapter devoted to pasture development with this in mind. The longest chapter is on ailments; first, they are listed by the nutritional deficiency cause. Other ailments that do not have a nutritional cause are then listed alphabetically, with treatment advice from her decades of experience with horses and veterinarians in Australia. This is the first American edition, in which she has changed metric measures to non-metric while keeping all of the content the same. There is an index to help find specific topics.
