Preferred food: aphids, mealybugs, spider mites, leafhopper nymphs, caterpillar eggs, scales, thrips, and whiteflies. Method of shipment: Green lacewing are shipped as eggs packed in bran. Release rates: In gardens and greenhouses, release eggs at approximately 1,000 eggs/2,000 sq. ft. Once the larvae emerge, they will feed for 1-3 weeks before they become adults. For farms release 5,000 to 50,000 per acre depending upon infestation. The adults eat only honey, pollen, and nectar, which they need to reproduce. Repeated releases every 7-10 days will be most effective if the infestation is severe. It is recommended to release Green lacewing at the beginning of each season with a two week interval to establish a preventative colony. Availability: year-round. Saved our crop
- By Missy on Sep 13, 2011
Extended drought and extended extreme heat set the stage for very severe infestation of aphids in our pecan trees. Everything was covered with sticky aphid juice. I didn't think the trees would survive much less the pecan crop. I contacted Dr Bug Lady and followed her recommendations with lacewing eggs. Amazing and fast! The lacewings set about destroying the aphids right away. No more sticky aphid juice and the trees are trying to make a come back now that they are no longer being sucked dry by the nasty aphids. Thank you Arbico
GREAT for getting rid of Midges!
- By Dani P on Sep 6, 2011
I use the Green Lacewings along with the fly parasites in my insect program. The one year I couldn't even stand being around my horse because the midges (gnats) were HORRIBLE! Now I get shipments of the Green Lacewings throughout the spring and summer and the midges are greatly lessened! Thanks Arbico!
