KIS 5-gallon Compost Tea Brewing System with Extended Life Motor

If you are a home gardener or have a small farm operation, the KIS system will enable you to make your own wonderful compost tea. The compost tea you make inoculates the plants and soil with the necessary microbes and nutrients that are often lacking naturally. The result will be a healthier soil and healthier plants.

KIS 5-gallon Compost Tea Brewing System with Extended Life Motor was developed to provide a way to make a weekly “brew” as an organic solution for your plants and soil. The motor is rated for 10,000 hours, or 416 brews. The motor noise is a light humming; you only hear water bubbling. The brewing time is 24 hours. Clean up is easy.

Each system comes with a  5-gallon bucket and lid; a high-velocity Aerator (the extended life motor that is 110 volts, single phase, and uses 106.11 watts); durable plastic tubing with a circular coil technology to easily fit into the bucket; and 3 compost tea food packs in 400-micron mesh bags, enough to do 3 complete brews. Of course, instructions for assembly and use are included.

Just imagine, one evening putting on your Compost Tea Brewer, and the next evening feeding your soil and plants!  You will be amazed at the vigor, disease resistance, and size of your plants after just a few compost teas.

Usage rates:

• For foliar disease prevention, spray the plants just before signs of onset of disease. Then spray every 10 days to 2 weeks for about a month. You should monitor what you are seeing on your plants to determine if further spray is needed.

• For soil application, two times a year, spring and fall.

• For promoting growth, spray once a month during the growing season. 

• Frequency and scheduling of applications will vary depending on individual environmental conditions. You cannot over-apply compost tea.

• Use within 4-6 hours of brewing.

Application: Use a sprinkler can for applying to the soil, a backpack sprayer or a sprayer that has a nozzle that will not clog to do a foliar spray. A straight flow nozzle will not clog. Usually, a backpack sprayer has a straight flow nozzle. Use a hose end sprayer only if there is NO chlorine in the water; chlorine will kill the microbes.

Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty
This warranty covers service/labor to the original owner to repair (for 90 days) or replace plastic parts (for 1 year) from the date of the original retail purchase. The air pump is designed for residential use only and is warranted for 60 days.

This warranty does not include: 1) failure due to lack of normal maintenance, such as cleaning, 2) damage from misuse, abuse or accident, natural disasters or Acts of God, 3) use in a foreign country, 4) KIS product which has been modified in any way or incorporated into other products, 5) assembly and service adjustments.

Brewing Instructions for the KIS 5-gallon Brewer

Once the brewer is assembled, fill your bucket with water just shy of 5 gallons, making sure the insert is in securely.

With dry hands, plug your motor in and start the motor.

Run for approximately 20 minutes if you have chlorine in your water to remove it.

Drop the contents of the plastic bag into the bucket. Then place the mesh “tea bag” in. Cover with the lid.

Brew for 24 hours before use. If the ambient air temperature for the brewer is colder than 65 degrees, you will need to brew it longer, at least an additional 3 hours. If the ambient air temperature is above 95 degrees, it can shorten the life of the motor or burn it out. The motor is cooled as air passes through the motor; if air is too hot it will not provide adequate cooling for the motor.

Use within 4-6 hours from the time you stop the motor for optimum benefit.

Note: Make sure to clean your machine immediately. Run clean water through with the pump running and/or put the parts in the dishwasher to eliminate the possibility of biofilm.

Alternatively, another easy way to clean the machine is to remove the coil from the bucket with the motor still running. This keeps the tea from going inside the coil and pipes. You may then remove the coil from the motor and dip it into another bucket filled with water, or hose it down and then wipe clean.
