Garlic Barrier AG+is a natural, ideal insect repellent made from 99.3% pure garlic extract. It is OMRI listed for organic farm use. View OMRI Certificate. Garlic Barrier AG+ is marvelous for farm, home garden or lawn care with the benefit of being completely safe around people, pets, animals and fish. Garlic Barrier is made from a strong liquid garlic concentrate. When diluted with water and a sticker (we suggest Therm X70) and sprayed on farm crops, garden plants or ornamentals, it will keep insects off. The garlic odor diminishes in about 30 minutes as the plants absorb it, so people are not bothered. Garlic Barrier travels through the plant systemically, protecting roots, stems, leaves, flowers and fruit. It does not change the taste or smell for humans or livestock, but insects can’t stand the natural sulfurs absorbed from the garlic. Insects that do come looking for a meal or a place to lay their eggs are repelled for one week to a month, depending on the crop and application method. Because the 1 gallon size of Garlic Barrier is 10 times stronger than the quart it is 99.3% pure garlic extract it should have “sticker,” usually Canola Oil, soybean Oil, Cotton Seed Oil or other vegetable oils, as long as they are refined and de-gummed. The sticker will allow Garlic Barrier to stay longer on the plant so more will be absorbed. Mix Garlic Barrier with the sticker before mixing with water. Use the same amount of oil as Garlic Barrier, or 1.5 to 2 ounces per gallon of total spray. For Organic Growers, Therm X70 can also be used at the rate of 2-3 oz per acre. One gallon properly applied covers 10-12 acres of row crops or 5 acres of orchards. Garlic Barrier may be applied to foliage or in the furrow on top of the seeds as they are planted. Early application to the seeds helps repel pest nematodes, grubs, or other root feeders from the seedlings. If applying to foliage, always spray early, between 7:30 AM and 11:00 AM, when plants have their stomata open so that more Garlic Barrier will go in quickly. In addition, Garlic Barrier lasts up to 2 years if you tightly cap it and store it in a cool place. Refrigerated at 40° it can last 3 years. To protect cherries, dilute 1 gallon of Garlic Barrier in 300 gallons of water and spray the solution on the trees to keep birds away for a week. Only spray when the fruit begins to ripen and the first birds appear. Garlic Barrier leaves no taste in the fruit at all and there is no re-entry time, so you can spray up to the day of harvest. Animal Repellent: Garlic Barrier also serves as a natural repellent to Armadillos, Deer, Field Mice, Geese and Rabbits. Grasshoppers: To repel grasshoppers, mix 8 oz. of Garlic Barrier with 1 gallon of Liquid Fish and then add this mixture to 20 gallons of water. As you spray, you will see them leaving! Weed Prevention: Garlic Barrier is an excellent addition to your weed prevention measures. Studies have shown that garlic applied to hot summer soil prevents weed seeds from germinating. It does not do this at cool planting temperatures, so it is safe to use with seeds to repel root feeders as described above. Garlic is also well known for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. |
