This special formula of McGeary Organics fertilizer is the answer for eroded soil or fields that have not had crop rotation and corn or rice is to be planted. Its special high-nitrogen formulation will also correct a field that has been over-manured or if a soil test has indicated excessive phosphorus and potassium levels. If your soil test reveals soil nitrate levels to be below 21 ppm, it can also be used as a side-dress of nitrogen after your crop is up to boost yield and growth.
McGeary Organics 8-1-1 is composed of blood meal, plant protein products, and compost. Like all McGeary products, it is OMRI Listed and NOP compliant. It contains several nitrogen rich ingredients, a large portion of which are rapidly available. The guidelines below are general recommendations. For specific recommendations and best results, always refer to a recent soil test.
Corn: use 70 lb of 8-1-1 per 25 bushels of expected yield. This should be adjusted based on manure applications and existing soil nutrients as determined by soil testing. Side dress applications should be based on a pre side-dress nitrate test.
Winter small grains: fertilize with a balanced fertilizer at planting, and then apply 100-300 lbs of Nitro-Power per acre in late February-early March.
Spring lawn applications: use 12 lbs per 1000 sq. ft.
