 This special formula of McGeary Organics fertilizer is the answer for lawns, infrequently rotated gardens and especially for corn. Its special high-nitrogen formulation will also correct a garden that has been over-manured or if a soil test has indicated excessive phosphorus and potassium levels. If your soil test reveals soil nitrate levels to be below 21 ppm, it can also be used as a side-dress of nitrogen after your crop is up to boost yield and growth. It is especially good for corn and lawns. McGeary Organics 8-1-1 is composed of blood meal, plant protein products, and compost. Like all McGeary products, it is OMRI Listed and NOP compliant. It contains several nitrogen rich ingredients, a large portion of which are rapidly available. The guidelines below are general recommendations. For specific recommendations and best results, always refer to a recent soil test. Corn: 4 ½ lb /100 sq ft at planting, then 4 ½ lb 5 weeks later. This should be adjusted based on manure applications and existing soil nutrients as determined by soil testing. Side dress applications should be based on a pre side-dress nitrate test.
