Bean ThripsBean Thrips (Caliothrips fasciatus)
Adult bean thrips are 1 mm long, cigar-shaped, and their bodies are uniformly dark grayish-black.
Thrips prefer to feed on the flower of the plant; they remove plant cell contents and also feed on the pollen. When infested with thrips the leaves of the plant will appear brownish and/or silvery where they have fed. Adults lay their eggs in the leaf tissue, and population is highest when it is warm and dry.
