Simply spray your sleeping bag lightly each night to prevent any bed bugs from the wild choosing you instead of their usual victim, and spray any backpacks, tents or other items on which they might hitch a ride. As soon as you enter a motel room, simply check out the mattresses for signs of bedbugs. If any signs are visible, use one spray bottle to treat the room near the bed, the baseboards, and the mattress. Lightly apply the spray on the tufts, folds and seams of the mattress. The underside of the box spring may be sprayed as well. If there is any other furniture in the room, treat each upholstered piece as if it were a bed.
