Archipelago Fossilized Bat Guano 0-7-0 | 55 lb bag

Archipelago Fossilized Bat Guano 0-7-0 | 55 lb bag

This all-natural phosphate fertilizer is mined from ancient deposits of fossilized bat guano in collapsed Indonesian caves. It is OMRI listed as a mined mineral, and has WSDA approval. Because it is fossilized, it has no nitrogen, no odor, and no potentially harmful bacteria, all of which can be found in fresh guano. Also, because it is totally organic, it has numerous nutrients essential for plant life, without adding the toxic waste found in man-made super-phosphate fertilizers. Archipelago Fossilized Bat Guano is rich in calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, and zinc. It is also excellent for promoting vigorous flowers, fruits, and vegetables, as well as strong root growth and hardiness.

Archipelago Fossilized Bat Guano is mined and ground to a fine powder, so it may be applied in a variety of ways. Dry, it may be added to the hole for transplants or it may be applied under the drip line of a tree or near the base of a smaller plant, scratched in, and watered in to prevent drift. Because it is a fine powder, it is not recommended for broadcast applications.

Another way to apply Archipelago Bat guano is to liquefy it. Adding Citric Acid to keep the pH between 6 and 7 will keep more of the phosphorous and calcium in solution.  Make sure and use the largest emitter on your sprayer hose so it will not clog. Any waste sludge can be directly applied to the soil around plants.

If you are a home gardener, make a liquid tea for foliar spray using ¼ cup of guano to 2 gallons of water. Adding Citric Acid to keep the pH between 6 and 7 will keep more of the phosphorous and calcium in solution.  Do keep the mixture in an open container, as the citric acid will cause gases to form. Let it sit for several hours before applying. Again, any sludge can be directly applied to the soil around plants.

When to apply: when phosphate is needed, when the plant is ready to bloom and when blooming.

Application rates: As always, perform a soil test to determine need.

  • About 1 ton/ 2 1/ 2 acres for phosphate-depleted soil.
  • 55 lb bag will cover about 2900 square feet of phosphate-depleted soil.
  • 11 lb bag will cover about 580 square feet of phosphate-depleted soil.
